Just had to vent a little

I just finished typing a 25 page paper and it sucked royally. I have been working on this crap for three days and I celebrated its completion by eating a frozen burrito. It was good. I am working on my masters and suspect it will only get worse.

Wow, good for you for doing that! What are you getting your masters in?

The burrito sounds well deserved! 25 page paper in 3 days?? I was pretty good at whipping up papers quick back in the day, but never had one that large... that's impressive, lol. Do you thrive well under the pressure?

Yes Im a counseling major but Im actually working on two masters eventually. I hate writing but Im pretty good at it. Ive only made one B through my whole bachelor's work on papers. I actually typed the paper in about 12 hours but had to do 23 power point slides and turn in a complete sentence outline as well. It was so much fun.

I like learning, but I can do without tests and such. I'm glad my line of work doesn't care if I have masters or only a GED (I have a BA, btw), just how good your portfolio is.

I'm not much of a test taker either, but I didn't mind writing papers. I work on powerpoint slides at work alot, so I don't mind those either... allows you to get a little bit creative!

I don't have a degree. I started working fulltime right out of high school, then started a AA a few years later, but took some time off due to personal issues (didn't want my GPA to suffer!) By the time I was ready to go back, the school discontinued my major. I've studied a bunch of different things in the last few years though... web design, entrepreneurship, business and most recently, I completed a 10-month esthetician program (a branch of cosmetology focusing on skincare, waxing and cosmetics) but I'm still waiting for the state board to schedule my licensing exam.

For the last 8 years, however, I've been working at a biopharmaceutical company... started as the receptionist, moved up to an administrative/executive assistant and now working as a coordinator in business development. I've been fortunate for my opportunities... no degree, amazing job...

I'm convinced that formal education isn't always necessary (as I know wayyy too many people with degrees who aren't doing anything with them), but I give MUCH credit to those who do. It's not easy... especially the older you get and the more responsibility you have to deal with, work, family, kids, etc... plus training on top of it!
