Make sure you all see it. It really does live up to the hype. Makes you feel compassion for people when most people really truly do suck.

I saw it when it first came out- it is a great movie and very deserving of all the accolades it has received.

Yes. But that's not a very nice thing to say about her. She delivered an amazing performance.

I havent seen it and dont really care for those kinds of movies they make me mad to see people get treated that way. She does seem like a very sweet girl though. Saw her on the chelsea lately show, everyone that ive talked to loved the movie.

It's truly horrible what we humans are capable of doing to each other. But in the end she overcomes and it's really very inspirational, so all people, that you can break the cycle you're stuck in.

Sorry, but what about that statement isn't nice?? There are no opinions in that statement. She is morbidly obese and black... these are facts. If they didn't want that perception they shouldn't have put her right on the front of the movie.

I plan on watching it. I treat people like I hope they will treat me. I think its a good rule to live by. I have a young friend who is 16 who weighs 285, has a neural stimulator, and to be honest hes into stuff like dragons that are way below his age level. He had brain damage from several seizures. I was one of the first people to treat him like a "real" 13 year old when I met him. He had never even ordered food at McDonalds and I kid you not I helped him do that because his family kinda blows him off as well. Anyway, Ive seen how people treat him. I hate it. Hes a human being not a piece of meat and he has feelings. I found out today he has been having chest pains and has high blood pressure too. He was on his powerlifting team and lost 30 pounds but they fired the coach. Anyways, I hate it when people treat others like garbage. These are the people we are supposed to be taking care of.

This is true, that's what you see. A fat black girl. That's what she looks like. But that's not who she IS. None of us are what we look like. Sure most of us are body builders and so that's what we look like, but that's not who we are inside, there's so much more than that. That was what was great about this movie, it showed the different layers of people. No one is all good or all bad. We are all born into cycles. Some into poverty, some into a relatively healthy middle class existence. We don't have control over what we're born into but we do have control over what we do about it. Free will. So here's this girl, with no reason to live, her Hell is so similar to many young girl's hells, and she pulls herself out of it with the help of others. I can relate to that. I think a lot of people can.
Ok done babbling. Too much coffee lol.

Didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I haven't seen the movie, so I couldn't have said, "the amazingly talented, heart-breaking, wonderful girl who happens to be black and extremely over weight". :pleased:

Oh it's ok we ALL form prejudices, small or large, every day based on what someone looks like. It's just human nature. See the movie and you'll see what I'm talking about. You stop seeing that she's fat and black and just see a soul that God loves, that was the point of the movie.

I hate labels. I do find it sad that she is so overweight. You can see she's actually a very beautiful girl underneath it all. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm sure I will soon.

Oh yeah she's very attractive. At the Oscars she looked really pretty. For her health and future career in acting, which I'm sure will be awesome, she should definitely start losing a little weight. Mo'Nique has lost 40-50 lbs for her health, she always has said she loves her body no matter what and I think she's beautiful even big, but losing that amount of weight alone significantly reduces her risks for disease. That's the number one reason people should lose weight, reducing risk. Looking good comes second.

Sorry guys...labels, discrimination, persecution, bullying, harassment, and such behavior isnt limited to blacks, overweight people, and the mentally and physically challenged...

It happens to EVERYONE....even you and I..

I personally have been harassed, bullied, discriminated against, and literally followed and taunted on a daily basis for literally the last 2 years of my life, this is no shit... PEOPLE ARE MOTHERFUCKERS....especially when one person rallys up an entire forum that passes out your personal information and hundreds of people randomly fuck with your life on a daily basis, when I refused to do what "they wanted" me to do...

It cost me my business, my credit, a relationship with a fatherless child that I raised since she was 4, and almost my ability to pay child support for my son...

My harassers know what they have caused me and still continue....they even call and taunt me about it...

So dont think that shit happens to just blacks, overweight people, and mentally & physically challenged people...it happens to everyone, including your fellow MC member..

I too have been horribly harassed on some of these sites, because I was vegan and stood up for animal rights and was very vocal about it and also because I have/had a severe mental illness. I got called the "c" word all the time, hateful things were said to me that triggered my mental illness and I tried to kill myself because one person on a board told me I was worthless and should kill myself and get it over with. I'd tried suicide many times before that in just general life, but being on that board was a huge trigger. One guy even said he would hit me if he could, and he didn't even get punished or banned for threatening physical violence against me. Now, on myspace, if any man harasses me I report it as abuse immediately, and call the police as well as my lawyer, who is one of NYC's top 50 female lawyers. She's brilliant and always has my back. I don't let ANYONE fuck with me EVER again. If they do, they pay for it. I was also banned on a site for being "too lean" after I started training all natural for figure with my coach. We were getting me super lean and then trying to add mass, it was a slow but steady process, but the site that banned me said I was going to die cuz I was anorexic. I'll post the picture of what I looked like. I saw my doctor who took my blood and said it was perfect, no signs of anorexia, I showed my pictures to my brother in law who is a cardiologist, he saw no signs and thought I looked awesome. I saw an orthopedist and he explained my ribs stick out more than normal because of the way my spine is formed. They accused me of anorexia, yet I was squatting 200 lbs twice a week and eating about 1800 calories a day on a cut diet. The only cardio I did was 20 minutes walking slowly on the treadmill. It just shows you how ignorant people are, how quick they are to judge, and how utterly foolish they are if they don't know the truth but assume.

Have you spoken to a lawyer and the police? Aggravated Harassment is against the law. Via any venue, whether it be in person, via email, via forums, etc. Know your rights. You do NOT have to take abuse if it's not deserved.

I have talked to several lawyers, but cant afford the retainers to hire them now. The ring leader of my situation lives in New Jersey and I dont know how to do anything from here in FL. The police?...I have thought about it but didnt know how serious they would take it when there is a world full of murder'ers, hardcore drug dealers, and so on...I figured involving the police would only aggrivate them more and worsen my situation...

nice pics...how are you disabled now?

Oh yes the police can definitely be involved, and they WILL take it seriously. I know Jersey well, I lived in NYC for a long time. They're just Bridge and Tunnel idiots for the most part, not Tony Soprano. Trust me, tell the cops. These guys are breaking the law.
I have a severe mental illness called Borderline. Along with it I have 6 other mental disorders. They each come out to play at different times, or sometimes hardly ever. If I'm stable, in a quiet safe surrounding like my house with my animals and my mother, I'm ok. If I get triggered I do harm to myself and sometimes can do harm to others. I threatened to kill my sister if I saw her a few months ago. And I meant it in that moment of heightened emotion. I can't work, I don't talk to people, even on the phone it scares me too much, I talk to animals mostly. My mom has to go with me to the gym otherwise I panic if she's not there. So she sits for an hour while I lift and does her devotionals. Other than seeing my doctors and the gym, I don't leave the house. It's agoraphobia but managed.

Good I'm glad. You have a right as an American citizen to live without fear or being harassed. Explore your rights. The Constitution has tons of them to protect us.

You report it. If there's a dirty cop you tell someone higher up. This is fucking America and we have our rights and I know for myself I'll be damned if I don't get my rights acknowledged!
