The package was wired with an electronic beacon that would alert when the package was opened. The package was delivered to Thomas’ home, and the beacon alerted about five minutes later, according to an affidavit in the federal case.
Detectives went into the home and found Thomas “was the only occupant inside and was observed in possession of the opened steroid package.”

this guy was wide open getting several packages a week for years from what i hear. i live one town over from him so i never knew him but i had a buddy who knew of him and he said he was over the top cocky with a big mouth so it was only a matter of time until this happened

yeah... but how expensive can a little filament wire be that breaks when you rip open the packing tape? ... if it's cheap, then it won't matter.. and if this business gets big like DUI's get big (meaning money makers) .. then watch out.. cheap little devices bring in 'huge' revenue for the 'big bad ol' gym rat' who just wants to look good!!!! ... ... we gotta make up for our deficit some how right? ... ugh!

Yeah, but I always thought that the electric beacon was stuff of gymrat lore. Never heard of it used in an actual bust until now.

These people are so fucking stupid. If you are going to play this game, read the laws and be familiar with them. You admit to selling and BAM possession with intent to distribute. You admit to anything BAM trafficking. Shut the fuck up. Small infrequent orders to different addresses and keep your mouth shut!
When you get your packages bring them inside and leave them for several hours. Then open them. If police come knocking SAY NOTHING. A good attorney will say "the box had my clients name on it, so he opened it" "prove he knew what was in it and prove he ordered it." Good luck on that one!
