How many of you make alot of your own food.

By make , I mean from scratch how many of you actually bake your own breads or eat them homemade.

By either grinding your own rice/beans/oats/or wheat.... to make your own breads. Or atleast use flour bought from the store. Rather than buying already made breads?

Same for other food catergories?

Dont have the time for it, and probably wouldnt if i did just too much trouble if you ask me.

Oh god... seriously! Fulltime job and trying to balance my sanity with contest prep, I don't think so... even if I wasn't prepping. I agree... too much work - not worth the effort to me!

My wife makes a lot of my food and I work a ton so I buy out a ton and try my best to keep it clean.

Wasnt this an episode of wife swap where one family ate raw food, made their own food, and brushed their teeth with butter??

The closest to that I would want to be is growing my own fruits and vegetables in a garden in my backyard. Maybe on a special occasion make something like some banana nut bread (yum yum), or homemade pasta, but on a daily basis, as much food as we consume trying to grow, it would be way too time consuming I think. I love to cook, but that's a little extreme.

i cook 2lbs of chicken a day as well as open 2 cans of tuna and a 18 pack of eggs

im so used to cooking now its no sweat for me

that and i save alot of money doing so

I'm with crg... I would LOVE to have a garden one day where we can grow our own fruits and veggies, but thats my limit!

I've really learned to manage my time in the kitchen alot better this year so that I'm not spending hours on a Sunday getting ready for the upcoming week.

Chicken - cook on Sundays; throw it in the oven 400 degrees for about 30 minutes or until my thermometer hits 167.

Eggs - I go through 7 dozen/week and cook them 2x/day, as needed.

Tilapia - Buy a frozen bag with individually wrapped fillets; Cook it via stovetop prior to eating.

Tuna - Stock up on cans and keep a can opener at home and another at work, so I'm always prepared to crack one open!

Oats - Boil the water for 2-3 minutes and voila!

Sweet potato - Microwave for 5-8 minutes (depending on size).

Brown rice - Uncle Ben's pre-made pouches; just gotta measure it out!

Broccoli - Buy it raw and steam some 3-4x/week (since I eat it up to 4x/day) and then I weigh it out as needed.

I don't mind cooking once in a while, but I see no reason to spend extra time in the kitchen on this stuff if I don't have to. I'd rather make a special meal every once in a while or bake some yummy protein concoction than make my own breads and stuff. My time is too valuable and my patience is too thin for that...
