for those of you into tattoos

long story short, in 2007 i got my whole back done. Was supposed to be a grim reaper and an angel cemetery scene. The artist who drew it for me, his version looked amazing, too bad the tattoo artist wasnt so good. For the past year and a half ive been getting it covered up. Here is the process so far

I still have at least 5 or 6 more sittings to go. He said once everything is finished he is going to spend a few sessions just doing the whites to make everything poke out. Right now it just looks like a mish mosh and you cant tell whats going on, but ive seen his coverups and when its done, its gonna be 1000 million times better than the first piece of shit that was on my back.

Which is why I would NEVER put a chicks name. It's bad juju. Every dude I know that got his girl's name on him, has regretted it, because the relationship has ended. Most of them are divorces... but there was two that were just dating for a long time.
 
Can't wait to see it when it's done... what a bitch though to have an artist botch up another artists' work.

One of my best friends is my tattoo artist, so I have the luxury of feeling 120% comfortable that what's she doing is gonna be exactly what I wanted and more! When I wanted my snowflake piece almost four years ago, I went to her with my idea and a few choice designs that I had picked out. A few days later, she showed me her sketches of how to put it together and I was amazed how she was able to take my idea and turn it into something real.

Just curious... I know it's a huge ass piece, but did you consider doing a couple laser sessions first to lighten it instead of just covering it up? Or, was that option too much money??

There's another thread where Presser mentions that him and SF have each other's names tattooed on them. I think it's sweet when those relationships actually work out. :)
 
You know, in contradiction to everything I've ever said about tatoos, I;d actually consider getting my wife's name tatted on me. The more I think about it, the more it sounds kind of fun.

Hey you fuckers are starting to lure me in! It will start with my wife's name and then I'll end up 2 years later with an arm sleeve!
 
Mine started with a small cross on my back and in less than two years, I had started my arms... I also said "I would never..." Sooo don't do it unless you want to become addicted! ;)
 
Keep us posted on te progress of that cover up.. Looks so much better than before.

Steph: your are So right it saying it is addictive. I thought I will only get one (lion on my shoulder blade) now I have almost half my body covered. And want more.

My wife has my initials on her hip and I have her name over my heart. We both got them when we were engaged and are now married and happier than ever. It's only bad juju if you let it be. ;)
 
thanks everyone.. sucks on the back and sucks on the wallet but i want that shit to look good! my girlfriend doesnt think it looks like anything and shes mad that my whole back is black. I told her that she has to be patient and once he starts with the little details of the tattoo its gonna look awesome. The whites are gonna make everything poke out and look 3D'ish

Steph- I did not look into laser treatment because the artist covering it up said that the dude went so light that it wouldnt be an issue. He did a coverup on my arm too. I had my whole 3/4 sleeve done and my back done and had to get them BOTH redone lol..

Here is my arm cover up.. I told the old dude I wanted images and clouds flowing through the tattoo.. Those are what he called clouds...

Wow, nice job on the after... I like the color combo on the clouds. If I didn't already have my girl, I'd ask who did the befores so I make sure I don't go there!! lol

LOL! That's really funny, actually. But I can't believe the transformation. I hate to say it but the origonal work is among the worst shit I've ever seen. I think you could get better quality in prison...seriously. I'll be looking forward to seeing the end result.

Well he already said it looked like shit lol. I don't think it does anymore but the origonal stuff looked like kids work

I know, I'm kidding. It's gonna look sick once it's complete and the white accents are added.
 
Believe me I know how bad the old stuff sucked. I just kept going back to him because I was loyal for whatever reason, then when he did those clouds on my arm i got pissed and went to my buddies tattoo artist in keyport nj. Fat Kat Tattoo. The dude is 150 an hour, but its worth it if im going to be happy at the end..Steph's right, the white accents are gonna be bad ass. He started a little with the whites on the angels wings, you can see how they're pokin a little

i have my girls name right above my shaft, so when she goes down she can see it, and my name is on the back of her neck, so, again when she goes down ,or when im bhind her, i can see. Its pretty cool, and we arent even married son! We got them the first year together, and its been almost 3 so far
 
I swear to god he sticks the needle 2 inches into my back, he said he has to keep going over shit over and over again just to hide the other shit. I can only sit for 4 hours then i get antsy and want to vomit..
 
I think im going to take an etching of my wife's name.... take it to several different artists, see who can come up with the best design to cover over it.

either that... or restrict myself to only dating chicks that have the same name as my ex-wife...
