I just got called back to my old job that I have been laid off from for almost a year (one week shy). Anyway..my old job has better benefits..more vacation...a LOT more money..and probably more security in the long run....BUT...it is hot as hell in the summer(Steel mill) and it is 7-day swing shift(WORST POSSIBLE SCHEDULE) 1 wwekend off a month.
My job I have now is straight days..no weekends....I'm the boss......BUT...its less money..I drive at least 100miles a day...lot of stress.
I just am not sure what I am gonna do..anyone got any opinions...and moneywise I am doing fine now...mrs456 just said " Whatever makes you the happiest"  damn that is a typical thing for a woman to say!!Help me out bro's...I need some advice...lol...good advice ???

Well, you just have to sit down and figure out the shitty parts of each job, and decide what shit is easier to deal with.  lol  And which one will make you the happiest in the long run  (you know..years from now....you gotta think long term  ;) ) I hate these kinds of decission, I am always worried I am going to chose the wrong road.  Good luck in making up your mind!

Pros and Cons bro. It is up to you, but I would probibly go back to the old job just from what you were saying in your post. Sorry I can't be much help. ???

Yeah  I just spoke with my current boss and told him the situation. He was really cool about it. he basically told me that he would support me either route I took. he also said that if I went back to the steelmill and decided that I made a mistake that I could always have my job back with him. Awfully nice of him I thought...makes it harder to tell him that I am quitting.
My main thing is....my boss now is a small private business owner. My other jobs parent company is Cargill. Which has 567 million dollars invested in its steel mills...but is less than 5% of its net worth. So i guess its more secure?  Who knows...I'm prob fucked either way! <!--emo&+=--><img src="http://musclechemistry.mantisforums.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sarcasm.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='+='><!--endemo-->

Well that was cool of your boss to give your job back if your not happy at that job.  What was the reason you got laid off for a year?  What if they laid you off again......

With Bush imposing tariffs on imported steel - I think that the US steel workers will have a much more secure job than what they've been accustomed to.

I'm talking ore processing on down the line of finished products.

But Gravy-baby, I would just go with the one you 'like' to do more.  It's all about happiness.

Specifically mine.

Auri..don't really care all that much for either one of them..lol..I'm just trying to decide what is better for me and the fam.  And mb  I got laid off due to lack of orders....fukin japs dumped 100's of 1000's of tons of steel over here. A lot of steel mills went bankrupt...it was said that the ones who managed to keep there doors open will do good now.

Sounds like a tough one bro, but to me good hours and days off as well as the people I work with are more important to me than a little more money. That's just me though, I've quit decent jobs because I had to work Sunday's during football season, so you may wanna just ignore me  :D
