Beware of L.A. Fitness Scam

I hurt my back from a car accident so I don't go to the gym for a while. I finally get back to go to the gym and my usual gym that I go to has gone under, and they sold our memberships to L.A. fitness.

I go over there to cancel the membership, they print out a piece or paper that looks like a receipt, that says on the sheet, "Cancellation of Membership". So I think everything is fine.

Three months later I find out that they are still charging my account.

I go over there and this time, they say I have to send the piece of paper that they printed for me that looked like a receipt, that I have to mail that myself to the corporate office.

Now I am losing my temper.

I still send the piece of paper to the corporate office. I was working for an oil company down here in Texas, and they sent me to Craig, Colorado and then to some little place in Wyoming. I get back two months later, and L.A. Fitness is still charging my account. I go down there demanding to speak to the manager. Some stupid worker there keeps arguing with me, that it must be my fault, and that I must have sent it to the wrong place.

Finally I get to talk to a manager, I rip her a new one, and literally within thirty seconds, she calls someone on the phone, and my membership is finally terminated.

They give me a phone number to call, to get my money back, and the phone number rings three times, then goes to a dead pause. Nothing happens. I AM SO INCREDIBLY PISSED OFF!

So just giving a warning to anyone and everyone... If anyone knows OF A REAL GYM in and around the Houston area, please let me know.

ive gone thru this with golds. gyms always want direct account withdrawal for payment, mainly so they can keep charging you after cancellation.
