It’s going to be tough for Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan to bench his quarterback now.
In fact, it looks like Shanahan is in it with Donovan McNabb(notes) for the long haul now. Within hours of kickoff tonight at FedEx Field for the Redskins game with the Philadelphia Eagles, McNabb’s former team, the quarterback has reportedly agreed to a new contract.

Michael Smith of ESPN reports that McNabb has finalized a five-year extension that is worth $78 million with $40 million guaranteed. McNabb was set to be an unrestricted free agent after this season.
So, now it’s doubtful McNabb will be benched in the two-minute drill again. It’s an interesting end to a two-week period that got off to a rocky start when Shanahan pulled McNabb for Rex Grossman(notes) at the end of the team’s loss at Detroit on Oct. 31.
The move and the loss sent the Redskins into their bye week in turmoil. Now, they’re preparing for a key divisional showdown and the organization and Daniel Snyder have put their stamp of approval on the quarterback. I’m guessing any quarterback would go for a two-minute benching to cash $40 million guaranteed.

I always knew there were idiiots in Washington but I never knew it wouldn't have anything to do with politicians !! After just benching him a few wks ago!?!?!?
How stupid can anyone be? Guess a fool is born again in Washington.
He will never earn it all......NO WAY!! Just watch and see tonight.................

Wait....what has he shown that deserves this? I'm absolutely baffled......can anyone tell me??

exactly, does someone forsee him shitting gold in the future?
he better, for 78mil

i think Shanahan has been smokin that high powered weed or taking mushrooms or has just lost it. He was goin off during training camp on Hainsworth and he has never stopped acting crazy since.
