Considering the synthesized voices that already exist on computers, it shouldn't be surprising that they made software to make one sing. In Japanese, it's pretty easy since all the 50 sounds of their alphabet don't deviate in the way they are spoken or sung unlike all the different sounds there are in English. All they have to do is modulate length of tone, pitch, and volume, and they can express singing.
