Old Vick vs. New Vick

This has to be his best statistical season. He seems to have all the same talent, plus a new maturity. He's finally making the most of his talents.

Without question the new one! He still has all the old physical attributes, but with a much harder work ethic and focus. He downright fucking scary right now...

i'm happy for Vick.....he screwed up, he paid the price and will continue to carry that burden, and he's risen above......good for him

Amazing athlete...best athlete in pro sports...but he's a peice of shit for a human being...anyone who can beat dogs, electrocute them...that's not a one time slip up...he only stopped because he got caught...and of course he's remorseful...he spent time in jail and lost millions....

I'm a big animal lover and and i'm all about second chances....but some things to me define a persons character forever....I'm not saying he should be in jail....I think he Gould be able to play football too....I just think he's a shitty person.

Same talent, the only thing that's changed is his maturity. So, I like Vick now but only because he's an older, wiser person. However, the talent is unchanged and the skill-level, I believe, is about the same.

Hands down he has matured into a better well psychologically sound individual. He always had great feet but it was his passing that has gotten insanely better. He and Steve Young were very close and got a lot of tutoring (if you will) from Young. ESPN Radio here in Philly is awesome and this town is lit the "F" up over all this new found confidence.
ESPN went onto say......"If any other team thinks there will be a chance of getting him after this year...they can forget about it. Philly will lock him in and give him his due pay".
It's nice to feel the happiness for once in this city...after the Phillies and our run with McNabb , we have a sense of great possibilities with our sport teams. Even Flyers are soaring high!!!

Peace Oz

They do this same shit in every meat factory across the country. In India, if you operated a ring that did those things to cows--which they believe are sacred--you'd face the same scrutiny. So your views are socially constructed and I invite you think outside the box.

But not only that, the guy paid his dues and has turned his life around. People change and the guy didn't fuck over anyone's life the way a murderer of child rapist would. I think you should get the fuck over it and look at what he's done lately. All evedence points to him being a changed man. It's the American dream; we don't cut off your arm here, we make an attempt to rehabilitate.

Man, it kills me how fucking arrogant people are to judge someone a pice of shit based on past discrections that have been addressed--he paid his debt to society! Fuck, the guy was in his mid-20's for God sake. People fuck up. Are you perfect? If so, will you come over and turn my water into wine?

Didn't say I was...i'm not gonna get into a debate about animal rights...or wether or not he's a good person...I wish him no I'll will....just because my values and beliefs do not match up with urs I'm not sure how that makes me arrogant....a child molester never gets to rid themselves of that scarlet letter...I'm not saying vicks crimes were equal to be a child molester...but i have every right to make a character judgement based on his actions...that's the price u pay in life when u fuck up (I served jail time and 3 years probation for something I did when I was 19...and it haunts my record forever...bur guess what I made a mistake...it's the price I pay)

Right. I'm not arguing that you don't have a right to an opinion or even that you're wrong because our values don't align--actually, we're probably a lot alike--however I think you're judgement of vick, "a shitty person," is misguided. Should I consider you a shitty person for the things you did when you were 19? Or have you evolved? I'd guess you'd claim the latter.

People change and the value that one should be judged based on their character over time is quite universal in our society. Like you, time has passed; the man redeemed himself (I'm assuming you have too) and thus I don't think you present a strong case to warrant judging him a shitty person.

Do you have the right? Of course. Is it smart? I'd argue not so much...

I would like to chime in my 2 cents, which isnt me taking sides between your two guys debate, which i ask that you guys keep it civil as you have done thus far for the most part. Anyways I also hear people still judging him a peice of shit and it does kind of bother me and you will not find a bigger anaimal lover then myself. I would just like to point out that Vick was brought up in this environment, Hell even after the Game when they asked Desean Jackson about the pregame warmup altercation he said "It hyped us up like pitbulls trying to get out the cage" so even with all the controversary surounding VIck Jackson still said something due to it being second nature to him or rather not a big deal as these guys grew up around dog fighting as kids and thought nothing of it!

Anyways my point is I guess that with Vick and alot of inner city African Americans dog fighting isnt a big deal, and with dog fighting comes the killing them to put them out of their misery I assume like when horses break a leg

Just my 2 cents as it bothers me that people cant get over it, however as Plang Said it their choice whther or not they get over it, it bothers me but its their choice

Why it still bothers me i don't know...I'm no better than anyone else...judge lest ye be judged...I'm not so stuck in my beliefs I'm not willing to take a second look at something or soften my stance

presser makes a good analogy...

we race horses until they arent useful, then we shoot them in the head.

not really a far fetch from dog fighting. was it right what he did? no. but what is right these days?

I don't think he got in trouble for "putting the dogs out of their misery". He got in trouble for torturing the dogs to death and for running a dog fighting ring. Shooting a horse with a broken leg is one thing...picking it up over your head (which I'm sure presser could do) and slamming it to the ground is another thing.

But, I've said before in other posts...this is mild to me compared to what other NFL'ers have gotten away with. He should be punished for sure, but not more-so than all the wife beaters and murderers in the NFL.
