Is there anyone here that actually watches these movies? I happened to drive by the movie theatre the other night when the movie came out and there were people EVERYWHERE. I found out that the Hollywood Theatre here sold out all 8 theatres for the midnight showing. I know for a fact these weren't all kids standing in line either, this is nuts. I mean I'm not against these movies, I just think that is a little crazy.

Shit so fucking gay and over my head. I don't get it and I hope i never will.

Not even my kids will watch that shit - they think he's a dork

One quick comment, the Twilight series and Harry Potter are not even close to being in the same boat. Twilight is a gussied-up Harlequin romance with a vampire/werewolf twist. Harry Potter - well, you'd have to read the books. The earlier ones are more simplistic, but as the series goes on, it seems to develop along with its intended readers. They aren't the best books I've ever read - but they were entertaining, and better written than a lot of the dreck I've seen of late. The magic is more of a background - the books aren't about magic - they are like most adventure stories, about friendship, loss, bravery, powerlessness, survival. They just happen to take place in a world where there is magic. The movies are much more simplistic than the books - except this last one - which seems like it will be the closest they've come to a perfectly faithful adaptation of the book. Not to knock anyone's taste - but this *shit* has got more of a story than the latest "Let's blow up everything we can find while shooting everything in sight" movie....

Major that was a fairly insensitive comment.

i for one have taken my nieces and nephews to see the movies. I don't see anything wrong with it; it is simply modern-day, live-action, child-like equivalent of magical folklore such as the Lord of the Rings Saga. I am by no means putting them on an even keel, but they are very enthralling and entertaining for child and adult alike. I think it is wonderful that so many demographics of individuals, young and adult, foreign and domestic, etc. can unite behind a gratifying story that brings pleasure to so many.

I for one don't care much for it in terms of my own entertainment as it isn't my cup of tea but I am indeed glad it does bring happiness to so many. However, that being said, I too do not understand the degree of fanaticism that some people pursue it with...

I read the first half of the first book and tossed it out.

saw parts of the movies, couldnt keep my attention.

Id rather watch the wiggles, well maybe not that far...

My 15 year old daughter wanted me to take her and her friends to the first midnight showing. When she was small I used to read
the first books to her. When she was in the second grade, on the friday the first one came out, I had the day off and woke her
up and told her she looked sick and we better stay home and go the the movie. She still remembers that. Now that she is 15 I am
over Harry Potter. I told her I would love to drive her and her friends and pick them up!! She said it would be funner if I came and
her friends said it would be cool if I came with them. I figured 'how many 15 year olds want their dad to come with them, NOT ME
WHEN I WAS 15!! I figured I better go or it would be the last time she asked. So there I was @ 9 pm waiting for the 12:00 movie
on a work night. There was some total idiots a few rows down, guys/girls around 20 to 25 totally dorked out. They were getting
loud and being total DORKS and it took all I had to keep my mouth shut. My daughter knows me and told me not to embarrass her - lol
The movie wasent as good as the first couple (they were more entertaining) but my daughter and friends liked it. Probably go with her
to the last one this summer. OK - I admitted I went - lol

My girlfriend went to see it yes she went without me haha. I think all 24 movie theaters in this cineplex were showing it and they were all sold out at midnight. Was fucking crazy from the pics she showed me. Never seen so many virgins in one place, she said therewere some smokin hot girl nerds there though haha.
