Blake Griffin

Who won? I missed it, forgot all about it and was watching that CNN documentary "Selling the Girl Next Door"

I like Griffen A LOT. But I hate where these dunk contests have gone. I wasn't really impressed with his dunk. I think you could go to any public court and find 2 dozen black kids who could do the same shit.

I wonder how much Kia paid to have that POS wheeled out there like that.

It is the car of the NBA... lol !!! :puke:

The dunk contest never really has anything new. IMO, it's all been done and not really that impressive anymore. I think the dunks in games are more impressive. Like grabbing a rebound in the air and dunking it over top of 2 defenders. I like that a lot more than the dunks I saw in the highlights from last night.

a few things ruin the NBA weekend....

1. combining the skills competitions with the WNBA.....there's a reason numbers are so low in the WNBA....it's because it's not nearly as entertaining as they're trying by shoving it down our throats......

2. it's too commercial as previously stated.....it's stale.....it's too much of a "dog and pony" show and skills comes last

3. hip hop......do i need to expand on why and how it's killed the sport in the USA?

i agree, IMO, all the great shooters are what makes basketball impressive to me. dunking keeps the least of my interest.

Um yeah if u wouldn't mind elaborating on how hip hop has killed NBA basketball lol considering their mostly African American players who listen to hip hop lol

I agree, what else can they do? The car was a novel concept, but like Barkley said, it was not really an impressive dunk. Especially jumping over the hood...now if he had jumped a car lenthwise, that would be awesome. Even a little smart car.

since rap is all about "I" and for the most part every angle of it's disrespectful either towards the black community, other races, women, etc......nba has also lost it's "team" concept a couple decades ago....it's all one on one setups......gone is the golden days of a whole team of pure shooting.....basketball was originally a white sport....the only reason it's predominantly black now is because a large portion of blacks live in urban poverty and basketball is inexpensive to play.....otherwise everyone would be suiting up and playing hockey or training as alpine skiers

Griffin is a beast but I agree with the pure shooter comment. These guys are monsters with forty inch verticals. The days of shooter like Allen and Miller are over. Larry Bird and the like are gone. I saw spud web in Dallas not long ago. I remember those pony shoes and him doing 360s that was impressive. A 7ft who can touch the rim on his toes does not impress me even if he hits his head on the rim sorry it just doesn't. I listen to some hip hop but in all honesty it is anti law enforcement and teaches that selling drugs is okay and a means to an end usually. I hate that people kill each other over stupid crap like which coast they are from. Its truly heartbreaking. Its not hip hop so much as trash that other trash listens to and makes popular due to socioeconomic oppression as they call it. Im not impressed by anyone selling drugs to feed their kids but I am impressed when a man goes above and beyond to make a better life for his family. The days of positive rap role models and even nba players is about to cease. Like it or not they are role models. Wow that was a freaking soapbox moment. LOL
