Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight Shane Carwin will make his return against a submission specialist who last competed in mixed martial arts four-and-a-half years ago.
The next opponent for Carwin will be Norwegian jiu-jitsu expert Jon Olav Einemo, UFC President Dana White said Wednesday during an online chat for Seattle Times. The fight will take place at UFC 131 in Vancouver, Carwin later posted on his official site.
UFC 131 is scheduled for June 11.
Shane Carwin won his first 12 professional fights.
CAPTION
Carwin hasn't competed since coming up short in his title challenge of Brock Lesnar last July. Carwin later in the year underwent back surgery that forced him out of UFC's Jan. 1 card.
Einemo trains in Holland with the Golden Glory gym, which has produced several notable MMA fighters. He has solid grappling credentials that include winning the heavyweight division at the 2003 Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Fighting championships.
But his MMA resume is limited to seven fights, none since 2006, according to the Sherdog.com database. In his only encounter with a high-level mixed martial artist, Einemo lost a February 2006 decision to Fabricio Werdum in Pride Fighting Championships.
