UFC heavyweight on the rise, Brendan Schaub has been speaking about that sickening moment he delivered a final punch to the already fallen Mirko Cro Cop earlier this month at UFC 128 in Newark, New Jersey, explaining if he could do it all again he’d never have thrown the punch.

Speaking via MMAWeekly.com, Schaub said:
“When people are first telling me I’m like what are they talking about? I didn’t have any clue, and I asked my coaches and they’re like no I don’t get it. I re-watched it and I get what people are saying.”

“In the heat of the moment, and you’re fighting a guy like Mirko CroCop, when I hit him I saw him go limp and he started to get back up. Now that’s not a guy you want to get back up, that guy’s a monster. So, I better get another one in. The other thing too, I don’t stop until the ref pulls me off. It’s one of those things you don’t stop until Herb (Dean) gets in.”

“I wish it never happened, I wish Herb had got there faster so it didn’t happen. I’m not the guy who looks to hurt a guy when he’s down and out like that at all. That is something I wish had never happened. When I saw it in slow motion, I was like ‘aww man’ cause literally CroCop’s my favourite.”

I didn't see it but alot of guys toss one more punch to a guy" mostly down". But some refs are totally different from others as for stopping fights.

It didn't look that bad after watching it. I mean I can see why he'd feel bad, but it wasn't malicious or anything. He didn't look totally out at that point in real time

he was out, his leg was folded over and he was bouncing up from the weight hitting the cavas, watch it again, the fact that I dont like schuab doesnt help I guess, but he's a duecher

if any of us were in that situation (fighting a professional Mixed Martial Artist) the only thing we'd have to worry about is how long it would take to wake up

Yoooooo, stop picking on my boy!! He's def not a douche! :) I believe he didn't mean it... if the ref doesn't stop it, then most fighters keep going. I can recall lots of fights where one guy was clearly done, but the ref wasn't stopping it yet and the winning opponent was looking back over his shoulder as if he was thinking "do you really want me to continue this beatdown or are you gonna make the damn call?" So I think it was just one of those situations... I don't think it was intentional.
