HARD TIME BUYING SUITS

Oh yeah, you find a nice jacket that fits and it comes with like size fuckin 56 waist pants! There is absolutly no way to have them tailored down at the waist without them looking like patchwork.I've just about given up on suits and buy a nice Hugo Boss or Armani sports coat and the dress pants separately. Ends up costing the same or less and the fit is much better.

Sounds like a deal for a bad ass power suit Presser.

I think 325 is a fair price for a wool blend. The nice things about suits and sport coats - the style usually wears out before the fabric will.

I personally have no suits, just jackets and slacks.

y not just were sweat pants like me??

That's about right for a good one that's tailored correctly. Luckily I don't have to wear them anymore now our company went business casual a while back.
How does your dress shirt fit though? Most of the time they pinch you in the lats and you end up with enough material for a tent around the middle. Good athletic tapered shirts are hard to find.

Haha I hate talors. When the dude was getting my mesurements he said that aint right and mesured again. I had to get a 66 jacket.hahaha.They cut it in at the waist . I look like a hood in that suit.

bro look into the Astin Reed line of suits.. it's all i wear,, they will run you 300-800 usd per suit... but the guy i buy mine off of knows i won't pay retail.. so he calls me when the are at less 40% off.. Reeds are nice suits and they add alot of extra materal into thier suits so you can get them off the rack and have plent of extra materal to have it fited.. now remeber that the tailer doesn't measure the inseam by moving your ball to the left and then to the right..

I can't find anything that fits right anymore. With my new job, I had to go out and buy all kinds of new cloths, and it was a nightmare. Nothing I liked fit right, especially dress shirts. Later

Brooks Brothers is great for guys w/ ath. builds. Reason being, if you are a 48 in the chest then most will come w/ 42 pants. The standard is a 6" difference between the chest and waist for most suit co's. At Brooks Brothers you can buy the jacket and pants separate. For example you can buy 48 jacket and 33 pants. Their suits normally run in the $400-$500($300-$400 if you have an outlet nearby) range but are great quality. BTW Presser, $325 is a great price for a quality suit. One of the reasons I'm not looking to get too much bigger is that I have $3000-$4000 in suits that I'd rather not replace because I wear a suit 4 days a week.

PS

I have a 49 1/2 inch chest and a 31 inch waist, and my waste is getting smaller. Plus, I have 28 inch thighs, so the other problem becomes the smaller waste, and larger than average thighs when I buy pants. I have to buy pleated slacks, but they still do not fit right because in order to fit my waste correctly, the pleats are pulled apart by my thighs, and they don't hang right. I have been wearing Golf slacks, most of the time, with elastic in the waste, and lots of room in the thigh area, and they don't look to bad. Here they have a place called The Men's Warehouse, and they will put together a suit for anyone, alterations are free, and their prices aren't to bad. This is the only down side to being a BBer, except the not eating at McDonalds thing, LOL. Later

Presser,

I work in sales for a financial tech firm. I'm 30 and have been wearing suits for about 8 years almost every day. Couple tricks I've found. First I live in NYC and a suit for 325 sounds like a steal. If I buy an athletic cut suit 50in jacket comes with a 42 in pants. I'm 31" at best with pretty big legs. It used to cost me between 125-175 just to recut the pants and for alterations on the jacket. Here are the tricks I've found.

1. If you live in Philly, head over to the Franklin Mills mall. they have stores like Neiman Marcus(the last call) which is an outlet store. I believe they have Off 5th(saks 5th ave outlet) and one other like Nordstroms. As you go into the dressing room bring two suits one 50" one and one 40-42" one. Swap the pants. The NEVER check.

2. You can buy mix and match suits at places like Brooks Brothers. They probably run about what you paid maybe a little more. But they are really good suits. They do their own free alterations, but sometimes balk at big guys with small waists, they don't want to do the work push them they will do it.

3. The best way to do it. I have a girl I used to see who works at Sak's. About four times a year they have double discounts for employees. The best fitting suits are ones made to order, custom. Takes about 3-4 months. Hickey Freeman suits go for about 1200. With her discount I get them for 600, I have three of them and they are the best suits I've ever owned.

That is about all that I have seen. Be really careful where your bring your suits. I've had 2 suits get ruined at the taylor b/c they were too proud to say" it is too much work and I can't handle it". And gettting them to pay for a replacement is impossible. One of the screw ups had pants in which the crotch hung down to my knees. When I complained the guy said I had to pull the pants up a little. He proceded to pull the pants up to my chest. I asked him, "do I look like a 90 year old man? didn't pay for the alterations but it was $300 down the drain.

I HATE buying suits. It totally sucks when I try to buy a suit. The smallest I can squeeze into is a 56in. I'm talking about the top, not the waist, of coarse.... :D

try the men's warehouse, they can fit anybody. they also offer free pressing for the life of the suit. there prices are reasonable.
