Marquardt has been released by the promotion after failing his medicals for tonight's UFC Live 4 card in Pittsburgh, UFC President Dana White announced Saturday via Twitter video (http://www.tout.com/m/nsphwl). After years as a middleweight, Marquardt was supposed to make his debut at 170 pounds in the main event against Rick "Horror" Story.

A representative for Marquardt said the fighter wasn't immediately available for comment. "It's not time to talk yet," agent Kelly Crigger wrote in an e-mail.
But Marquardt did release a statement to MMA Fighting expressing regrets.
"I'm sorry I let everyone down," Marquardt said.
UFC Live 4's main event will be Story instead will face Charlie "The Spaniard" Brenneman, whose originally scheduled fight with T.J. Grant was canceled earlier this week after Grant became ill.
Saturday's announcement marks the second change to UFC Live 4's main event in less than a month. Anthony "Rumble" Johnson in May withdrew from a fight with Marquardt because of an injury.
