Former Florida Gators coach Urban Meyer has taken the head coaching job at Ohio State, sources confirmed to ESPN on Monday morning.

Meyer, who led the Gator to two national championships before stepping down to spend more time with his family amid ongoing reports of health concerns, had worked as a game analyst this season for the network.

But he requested off his appearance this weekend as reports swirled of his imminent hire with the Buckeyes.
Sources told WKMG-TV in Orlando last week that Meyer would be introduced in coming days after agreeing to a seven-year, $40 million deal.
The Buckeyes capped their season Saturday with their first loss to Michigan in seven years, a 40-34 defeat that left them at 6-6, 3-5 in the Big Ten.
It marked the most points Michigan had scored against Ohio State since putting up 58 in 1946 and the first time since 1999 that the Buckeyes finished under .500 in conference play.
Ohio State had been led by interim coach Luke Fickell after Jim Tressel was forced to resign nearly six months ago amid a tattoo-parlor scandal involving star Buckeyes quarterback Terrelle Pryor, who now plays for the Oakland Raiders.
On Saturday, Fickell tried his best to avoid questions about his future and pounded a table after one such query.
"Like I said, it's about the Ohio State-Michigan game," Fickell said. "It's been about that since last Sunday. It's going to be about that always."

I like meyer, but he is going to a school that just fired their coach for not overseing his players, and that had players suspended for small shit like selling their jerseys and getting free tattoos, and they turn around and hire a coack for $40 million fucking dollars, but these poor kids get shit all all over like pryor did for accepting chump change from alumni

Its an ass backwards system in collage , but i love me some collage football!

I think that collage players should get paid something.. And shit like wat happen at Ohio state wouldn't happen. Because these kids would have a little cash in there pockets.. But I think Meyers ia class act and he will bring in good young men into his program.. I like tebow.. But 40 million is alot for a collage coach..

Yeah Meyer is a solid coach, of high character and holds his players to the same standard, though u cant oversee every player i still think his system will be good for ohio.

Now I am wondering what type of offense they will run at Ohio State. Will he implement the spread or keep the ground and pound that ohio is use to or atleast well know for.

And I think he is only one of maybe 3 coaches that had big enough names to actualy encourage kids to sign with Ohio State, otherwise i think recruitment would have been shit this year

He'll turn this program into a contender within 2 years. They were good this year, but that's only because they hada good players to begin with. They'll be great again if not next year the year after for sure

I think that Meyers is one of the best coaches out there in collage football. That he will bring them in the top 10 next year and win the Big 10..

I would have to agree that he's one of the best coaches out there. Although I love WVU having Dana at the helm. I think he's done a complete 180 with the WVU offense this year. I know a lot of the WVU fans are disappointed that we've went 9-3, but we have a shot at the BCS bid and we've got a great offense with nearly everyone coming back next year so I think we're in good hands with this new offense and coaching staff.

i agree. he'll win the big 10 within 2 years and be in a national championship within 6 yrs---my prediction anyways

i agree with Presser too..these players make millions and millions of dollars for the university. so what if they get tattoos??

As much as I love Florida, he probably knew that they're program is on a down slide now after Tebow left. Plus it seemed like they had a really good connection and he probably didn't wanna coach that school after he left....I wish he would've stayed though, he can recruit some great players
