Bodybuilding costs a fortune as well all know. Was just going over some figures from my two shows last year and preparing financially for the USAs this year. So I was wondering, how much on average does everybody spend? I know at the Olympia level for males it is staggering but for me it is staggering anyways. Two shows last year cost me 15K. This one is running me 7K for just gear and trainer, not food or airfare or hotel or entry fee or anything. That's why it cracks me up when people believe all the bs advertising in the magazines about take this protein powder and look like Dennis Wolf, or take this creatine and look like Kai Greene. I know some people who have not paid their rent or mortgage and instead spent it on gear, that is NUTS imo. Homeless with a buff body LOL. Thanks to MC for helping me out this year!

You are correct- the last two shows I did cost me 11K but that included prep guru and supps and a cheap ass hotel, rental car, and entry fees which keep going up every year. I got behind on my bills but you have to do what you have to do.

Too all that compete I give a thumbs up. Its great to hear all the true stories of what it's all about in regards to money costs etc . Keep a journal and someday write a book. It will always interest the sports enthusiasts ..

I don't keep track. I do know for a fact that I would not have been able to compete last year if it werent for MC. Next year my costs will rise dramatically as I'll be doing GH continuously. If I knew the actual numbers I would probably talk myself out of doing it.

LOL, yeah your better off not keeping track of what your spending otherwise you might wonder what the fuck is wrong with yourself, lol. But its well worth it! The people you meet, the traveling, the experience is well worth it in my opinion!

I will say this though I had so much more fun when my wife competed by herself and me just traveling with her to the shows, not that we went anywhere special but it was fun traveling to a few states and sseeing the sites and meeting people ect. Well it was fun for me anyhow, and i know she enjoyed it as well.

I agree. I piss and moan while dieting up till the show and am terrible to live with but once the show is over I'm thinking, I can't wait to do that again!!! In regards to the money, for me I need to know or I cannot budget properly. In a perfect world I do like to have all of my stuff together prior to my 5 month diet, that way it is one less thing to worry about.
