FBBs Posing to Heavy Music?

Silk found the most awesome song for me to pose to (my secret :) ) sent it to my trainer and she did not like it. Said it was too hard and judges don't like that heavy music. It really is not heavy imo, but I think it could be very sexy if I did it properly. Anyways it got me thinking. She is a National judge so I do need to take her advice seriously but I am torn. I listen to heavy music and this is actually quite tame for me. I am not gonna pose to some girly music and I don't like to move so slow for classical. I always thought that a powerful physique looks good with powerful music. Is heavier music for guys only?

And I wonder if judges like the constant slow R&B, no offense to those who like it but I can only listen so long.

I'm on your side Jenn. I also love metal!!!!! It's basicaly all I ever listen to. Devil driver, Pantera, Slayer, you name it I own it. I don't mind a little RnB and Rap but like you said I can handle that shit for so long. But I hate, No FCKN LOATH COUNTRY MUSIC!!!!!! Country music litteraly will throw me into a violent rage if I have to hear it for to long. I say go with your heart Jenn. I know you want that pro card, but I really doubt a song is gonna keep you from that goal. I honestly think she prob just doesn't like metal. Every song that I will ever pose to will be a metal song. The 1 have picked for my next show is slow then transitions to heavy as shit and then slow again. Gonna be a great posing song....

Yeah I kinda agree. Only thing I worry about is at the USAs there are only 2 pro cards given out. They take the winner of each weight class and from those 4 they will take the two best scores. So usually all judging is done at prejudging however you know how judges can be and I wouldn't want one to hate my music and mark me down, you know that crap goes on. I should've sent her some Cannibal Corpse first, then the stuff I sent her would've sounded like nothing! Love Pantera, used to go to every concert of theirs in highschool, also Slayer! I wanna be comfortable posing to something that I like, she liked my song last year which was Tool Sober, however I got second place with that song so I deem it unlucky now.

To me these go together like peanut butter and chocolate! Ooops, sorry Jen I forgot you're dieting right now! How about a hammer and nails instead! I'm betting she's not a fan of the heavy stuff and there's not much more to do with it than that. But I understand wanting to follow her advice though. I'd think for you it would be a comfort thing while you're on stage. If you don't believe in the music and you're not feeling it, that may have more of a negative impact on the judges than posing to less mainstream music.

YESSSSS!!!

I heard Dave Palumbo once say posing music shouldn't be just one song. It should Change about every 12-15 seconds, switching songs keeps the audience and judges attention better. So why not mix your own music and have 15 seconds of "heavy music" and then the rest a little more calm?

That is a good idea however time in so minimal at the national level. Once I go pro I will have a lot more time. When you've got only45 secs to a min max it sounds really choppy when you switch it up imo.

If Silk picked it out, then I know it's good. I also agree that with a powerful physique like yours I want some real posing music!! I'll be screaming for you either way, but that sucks that she is pushing to more soft shit. You've got the physique, you should fucking rock it!

Well the verdict is in and my trainer has nixed my song. Gotta pick something new, she doesn't want anything hard. She is a national level judge and she told me that when people pose to hard music the judges just tune out right away, which I do not want. Kinda makes sense as many are older and it is not from their era. Anyways it stinks but I hire a trainer and I will do what she says. She liked Tool from last year, so it's not like Mariah Carey or anything, just a little softer already got some ideas. She said if I feel like it at my first pro show I can do something hard and see what happens.

The Dude will just have to do a show and use my song :pleased: I understand her point of view and that is why you're paying her. I'm sure you'll find something that'll work. No matter what you pick you'll kill it.

Given your trainers experience and her current standing as a judge then I'd certainly follow her advice! You're right, if the judges are older they probably won't get it anyway. And like Silk said you're going to own it!....even it is Mariah Carey!! lol

Okay so it is not Mariah Carey thank God. I am posing to staind, it will be a feminine routine but still powerful. Trainer has approved it so I am good to go!
