Josh Hamilton hits 4 homers in a game!!!

BALTIMORE -- Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton's torrid 2012 season now includes his first career four-home-run game, all of them two-run shots in a 10-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles.

Hamilton homered off Jake Arrieta in the first and third innings, added another off Zach Phillips in the seventh and topped it off with a one-for-the-books shot against Darren O'Day in the eighth. During the last at-bat, Hamilton took a mighty hack and missed, lined a foul into right-field seats and then sent an 0-2 pitch over the center-field wall.
It marked the 16th four-home-run game in major league history. Hamilton is the first to accomplish the feat since Carlos Delgado did so on Sept. 25, 2003, for Toronto against Tampa Bay. Two of the 16 players to hit four homers in a game did it before 1900. Hamilton is the sixth AL player to perform the feat.

It was Hamilton's fifth multi-homer game, but the first time he's hit four home runs in one game. The eight RBIs are a new career high for the slugger and his 18 total bases in the game broke the club record last set by Jose Canseco on June 13, 1994 against Seattle. The 18 total bases set a new AL record and is one shy of the major league record held by Shawn Green.

Hamilton also added a double in the fifth inning.

Hamilton also hit a two-run home run in his final at-bat on Monday's win over Baltimore, giving him five such homers in his last six at-bats.

Hamilton, who is in the final year of his contract and could become a free agent after this season, leads the AL with 14 homers and 36 RBIs, and his 5-for-5 effort raised his batting average to .406.

This is crazy, the guy is blowing up in his final year of his contract

Being from Dallas TX myself, it's an awesome to have him here but I'm just not sure we will be able to keep him! ;(

Honestly, I think he'll stay as long as you guys are serious about staying competitive. And Nolan seems to be on top of that

Josh has told the local media several times he "owes the rangers nothing and he has to do what's best for the union." which means go get the biggest contract he can to set the precedence for the younger guys. He keeps saying it so again it won't surprise me if he leaves.

that's a bit steep if you ask me. Especially with the personal problems he's had in the past, that has to be taken into consideration for any team

Not taking anything away from him, but he's got some personal issues that need to be addressed before I'd ever consider signing him to my team

And to answer Ox, Kemp and Hamilton in the same lineup would be awesome. It'd remind me of the bash brothers in Oakland or when the BoSox had Manny and Ortiz together

He's very injury prone, an addict whose fallen off the wagon numerous times, and 31 years old. No way I sign him to a deal like that without an opt out clause for the team after every season! Especially with Texas's farm system! They have the #1 ranked minor league system in all of baseball. Let him go and you will be thankful in a year or two!

Nolan Ryan is a smart man and knows how to operate a team so I'm sure you guys will be fine no matter what happens. But I'm certainly with you, I'd never give him what he's asking for and I think he'll be sadly disappointed at the end of the year when no one meets those requirements

I don't know man, I guess if they look at pure stats then yea they probably will give it to him, but the only teams I can see forking out that kind of money would be the Dodgers, Angels, Yankees, Red Sox and the Phillies. I don't think the Yankees, Red Sox nor the Phillies would have the need for them as they all have great center fielders as do the Dodgers. I'd say the only way the Yankees or Red Sox would sign him would be as a DH, but the Sox probably won't be dealing Ellsbury for Hamilton and the Yanks might trade off Granderson for Hamilton so that's a possibility I guess. Who knows, I guess we'll see

Holy Shit! Unreal!

They were debating on espn yesterday, on whether or not he might have been the best ball player of all time if he didnt lose 6 or 7 years of his life to addiction. I dont follow baseball all that much but i thought that was quite a statement!

I really think someone like the cubs or marlins will sign him. Hell the marlins were in the running for Pujos and CJ Wilson. Some GM will pay him what he wants.

Yea, I was thinking the Marlins may come out of no where on this one. It wouldn't be too surprising with them and the Cubs could, but I don't think Tito would allow all of the problems he brings with him go too far in the locker room after his headaches with Manny in Boston

That's a very bold statement and although I don't agree with it, I do have to admit that he's a beast
