Former WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Angel Torres has been released by UFC, the fighter said Wednesday on his website.

Torres won't be out of action for long. He has signed with Titan Fighting Championship and is expected to make his debut with that promotion in November.

"As a result of my last loss, I was cut by the UFC," Torres said. "My next fight will be in Hammond, Ind., for Titan Fighting Championship on Nov. 2.

"I am excited to continue fighting, to regain my focus and to get back to what made me a champion."

Torres, a 31-year-old resident of Hammond, has been cut by UFC twice in less than a year. President Dana White released Torres on Dec. 8, 2011, because of an offensive comment the fighter made on Twitter regarding rape.

Torres was reinstated later that month after he took action supporting rape victims in Chicago.

Torres made his WEC debut on Sept. 5, 2007, and submitted Jeff Bedard in the first round.

In his next fight on Feb. 13, 2008, Torres submitted Chase Beebe in the first round to claim the 135-pound title.

Torres (40-5) successfully defended his title three more times before relinquishing it on Aug. 9, 2009, to Brian Bowles via first-round knockout. He is 3-3 since that loss.
In his most recent bout on April 21, Torres suffered a first-round knockout to Michael McDonald.

UFC and WEC merged in January 2011.

He was a badass in the WEC but didn't do much in the UFC. I liked watching him fight, but always wanted to cut his fucking mullet
