With only one win in his first three Octagon appearances, Justin Edwards was in need of a victory against welterweight veteran Josh Neer. And he wasted little time going on the attack in an effort to get that much-needed win.

Edwards caught Neer in a guillotine choke while on the feet, then took the hold to the ground. Neer would quickly lose consciousness, forcing Edwards to inform referee Nick Gamst.

The fight was stopped at the 45-second mark of Round 1.

Neer represents the highest profile opponent on Edwards' resume. He improves to 8-2.

"I knew it was going to be a very exciting fight and I was going to push the pace," Edwards said. "I didn't think it would be over so early, but I wanted the challenge of Josh Neer."

Neer drops his second consecutive fight and falls to 33-12-1.
