the melting point is 118-123 °C so if you stay just above that I would imagine you would be good as you have to melt it to get it into solution correctly
That is what I have always done, but it takes more time than melting the powder method. MonkeyWrench does the melt method and his research is completed in 35-40 minutes.
I heat my oil in every experiment. It :
1. sterilizes the oil even further
2. makes the solution soluble and easier to work
3. filtration is easier without titration
If you heat anything and worry about degradation just heat the carrier.
ive always have done it by heating my raw solution to half of the melting point and then raise the heat when adding the carrier and bring it up to 100c for filtration.
