Baseball

...do you mean about juice???...if thats what you mean then yeah i think the majority are "on", but i dont think it is 75% like Canseco claims...and i m not for testing and neither is baseball in all actuality because they know homeruns put people in seats...testing=not as many HR's...lol...

that's bullshit with the testing crap. Baseball is the oldest sport in this country. It's long tradition should be enough to keep it alive. It is now the most corrupt and idiotic sport in the country. How could the oldest sport get away with no drug testing and no salary cap for this long. Especially when every other sport has a salary cap and drug testing. These two reasons are why the sport is slowly dying. People are signing ridiculous contracts, the same high profit teams are the only teams winning because they buy everyone, and all the records being broken these days have an side note to them (steroids). This sport will slowly killing itself as it has already started.

look at barry bonds and mark macguire 8 years ago. they were so much smaller and were not puting up nearly the homers. bonds stole the home run record with his AS use. i say test them and put a salary cap on them. if they want to strike they can. i was offered club seats at our new stadium for free and turned it down. its all horse sh*t.

At the risk of sounding like the Devil's advocate....
If steroids are breaking the records, why can't we all go out, juice, and hit 70 homers in the big leagues? We can't because 99% of it is talent. My point is, juice plays a small part and is taking all the blame. Smaller ballparks, better hitters, and the hype surrounding HR's all contribute to the higher number of HR's too. Juice may be giving baseball a bad name, but I'm more concerned about the other way around - baseball is giving juice a bad name. The reason behind this? Stupidity. I wish some of these idiotic writers and news anchors would do some research before printing/airing the rubbish they do. I saw a headline on a national morning news show recently that said "BONDS USES SUPPLEMENTS". No shit, Sherlock. They then went on to show ominous pictures of creatine containers (like the shots where they show guns or drugs gathered in a bust) and stated that "some experts claim that supplements like creatine should be banned from MLB because they're (get this) 'practically steroids'".

I love the game myself but like some have said it's dying out. The All-Star game was a joke that really game baseball another black eye. There is no way that the game should have been called. I have been a baseball fan all my life but when they striked last time I said if it happened again I would quit watching it and I will stand by my word. I think they realize this as well so maybe they will use their heads.

The sport stands alone when compared with others for all the reasons you bros stated. One would have to be ignorant to think that these players are doing this without the help of juice. Then you compare Sosa and Bonds to somebody like Luis Gonzalez, and it makes you wonder. Luis is hitting close to 60 homers a year, this year he is on pace for 57 or 58, and I don't think he is "using." So I say make the MLB players ommit to testing in the 2004 season, giving everyone like Luis, if he chooses to do so, one last chance to play under the aid of AAS. Thats what I would do, but then again I am pro steroids, only if educated and not used without care.

I know this would raise tons of arguements, but then again what doesn't. Something like 29% of Americans think we shouldn't being fighting this war against terroism, because we don't belong going into other contries and "flexing our guns." So I say fuck those people, give the MLB players a season and a half and then start the random testing.

I do agree on the salary cap, some of these contracts are rediculous, and just will keep growing larger. Screw them f they want to go on strike, don't pay them and get people that "enjoy" playing the sport.

just my .02 c

To add to that, I think the commissioner made the right choice in calling the game, in order to protect the players. This game is all about money, it's a business, and for a business to have there main product get recalled and taken off the market would lead to lost revenue and reduce number of sales. I think it was the right move, the only other option would have been having the batting practice pitures throw a few innings, but everyone would have just been teeing off.

Everyone has their own opinions and I value yours but calling the game, hurt the game. That is all you can say. They were in a no win situation as you described above. They lose fans either way they go. But do you think the guys that played for nothing and I mean nothing compared to what the players make today, would have called the game? No way, they played the game because they loved it and that is what they wanted to do. They didn't care about the money or whatever else came with being a player. That is the way the game should be played but we won't ever see those days again. Just my two cents.

th eproblem is what they make.. and all they want is more money.. what the bench boys make 2 million dollars a year.. and to go to a game is 400 usd.. right now if someone gave me tickets to the marlins i won't go

by the looks of the bleachers and open seats out in florida they might start paying the fans to come to games...lol

"silent" I agree the game will never be the same.

They definitely are overpaid!! They get that kind of ridiculous money just for playing a game; it's not even a real job , yet they want more and more.

they need to put a salary cap on who much any given player can make and put in inflation gaurd into it.. i think 5 million ey.. they should be able to make the work.. and drop the ticket prices so people that want to go can.. but it won't be me

I think in most major sports atheletes are using steroids, but because of Camminiti and others the focus is really put onto baseball. IMO steroids arent the problem in baseball its the high ticket prices, greedy players with no loyalty, and big market clubs that get all the best players everyyear (damn yankees)
