View Full Version : The “Hidden” Side Effects of using Steroids by Nelson Montana

Building muscles of super-human size does not come without a cost. When it comes to taking steroids , we want the rewards to outweigh the risks – as long as you don’t push the human body too far, you will usually get more benefits than side-effects. Unfortunately too many Bodybuilders do take their Steroid use too far and without safeguards, cholesterol levels being the silent killer that haunt the Steroid user daily.
Beyond the well-known physical dangers of steroids like acne and gynecomastia, there are a several side-effects that aren’t mentioned very often. One is a rise in LDL – the bad cholesterol. Bad cholesterol levels can contribute to blockages in your arteries, which in turn can cause heart problems and death.
How can this rise in LDL be kept under control while using Steroids? … diet will NOT work. When you use Steroids, diet is not the way to fix LDL, as it won’t matter if you eat foods low in cholesterol because your body will just make this bad cholesterol anyway. There are always cholesterol lowering drugs you could take, but some may have adverse effects on the liver, which is already under stress from Steroid use. What some Bodybuilders find extremely effective, is a cocktail of different supplements that have been proven to keep LDL down and HDL at healthy levels.

One such potent ingredient that can help improve cholesterol levels is Beta Glucan. You won’t see this in too many supplement formulas, but it’s a very potent ingredient for immunomodulation, which basically means to improve the way your immune system works. Beta Glucan is so effective it is even prescribed to treat diabetes. Research indicates that Beta Glucan may even activate a number of cells and proteins that fight cancer (such as T-cells and other natural cancer-killer cells). Some tests on animals indicate that Beta Glucan may inhibit the spread of cancer cells.

Another overlooked substance that lowers cholesterol is apple pectin. You’ve heard the old adage about an apple a day keeping the doctor away? Why did apples get that reputation? It seems people of the past empirically knew that apples were healthy and as it turns out, the pectin from apples has been shown to clear the arterial walls from dangerous plaque. Apple Pectin and Bet Glucan can both be used together to deliver a one-two punch against bad cholesterol levels during cycle. But this is not the whole formula, because in order to stop bad cholesterol in its tracks there a third ingredient called Policosanol that is just as important. A recent discovery, Policosanol reduces the platelet aggregation (i.e., the “stickiness” of platelets, the blood elements that promote blood clotting,). The effects of Policosanol on cholesterol levels is so profound that some bodybuilders are using this ingredient as a natural substitute for Lipitor.

Awesome read bro, did not know about 2 of these three. Any idea of the dosages on these 3 to achieve the effects?

I need to do my own research into these, I know about all but the first. Either way it's a good read and I appreciate anyone who the time to learn more about gear other than how to get a higher dose or combination.

I preach to my buddies about BP as well. None of them take if serious except two and one was hospitalized for over a week for excessive amounts for years straight and not protecting his kidneys, heart. Lipids, liver etc. it's come to a point that I see around me, guys only want gear, no AI, I still use nolva twice a week for gyno, lisinopril for BP, which I give away to my close friends hoping I can get them to take it. Because along with lipids, high blood pressure will ruin your organ, and from what my doc buddy tells me, lisinopril has some kidney protective properties as well. But he recommends using a blend which is one tab I'm fortunate that he and my personal doc give me plenty. But he actually recommends the lisinopril 20mg/Microzide 25mg combo, which will remove excess water and sodium from the blood steam, and both are potassium sparing. BP is nothing to mess with and lipids aren't either.

He actualky swore swore off the use of tren until he started it again recently. But he had got his lipids in order and as a test on himself and after a single week of 400mg tren E(2ml) and 300mg tren a (3ml) his lipids completely tanked again. One week. And this is a guy who is big as hell, cut, and never eaten a piece of meat in his life. Great guy.

But but let me add a couple quick thoughts just in the preventative side. 1. Fish oil is very very good for you and if u have a local health food store u want to get the liquid. Not the gel caps. Sounds gross but in. Reality the lemon flavored taste fine and just do a small shot of it twice a day. Look at the brands of the liquid and typically these have a much higher EPA and DHA than the caps, you want the highest EPA I believe. Also hemp oil is so good for you, lipids, heart, and many other things and an be bought online or in health good stores and contain super omegas that you won't find in another product.

NAC 600 twice a day is a staple in my live with or without gear. Along with Tumeric, you can get now foods brand NAC on the auction sites cheap. It should have at minimum 100-250 caps at 600mg for under 20 or close. Tumeric has so many benefits I can't even begin to explain. 500mg twice a day.

Now with blood clots, which should be on the back of everyone's mind. Get some serrapeptase and Nattokinesis. They attact blood clots but won't prevent u from clotting and won't thin your blood but they do work to dissolve them they are
excellent and I won't go without.

Last there are some things that have been proven to reduce or eliminate the need for dyalisis, CoQ10. Just make sure you are getting it in the form that's already the broken down usable form. I will try to list some others later and agIn I think this is a great thread and I want to thank you for posting the info. Sorry to go in other directions with it as well, but what is the point of any of this if it can't be done in a safe mannor? I value those who try to share what they know to be good for you and if anyone disagrees with any of my post feel free to speak openly about it and why, I don't take it personally, these are just some things I've found to work for me.

And and I have to add I will use UDCA with orals and the NAC but that's always.

And last of all, I read a recent article that I'm sure many of you have seen staring aspirin, low dose 81mg, may be as effective at thinning blood as the meds made for it without the sides, but the article was specifically speaking on post operative people. But I'm willing to try and hope and started it again after. Long break. Donating blood is a wonderful thing for every steriod user and and the person on need is going to do better with your blood and it's high content of hemoglobin and hematocrit, but some ppl I guess maybe are low themselves and in that case you don't want to. But great advice. I'll be adding the first one in and picking up more of the other two but please try the liquid fish oil in lemon flavor from a place that guarantees potency and the actual EPA and DHA.
