You are NOT an expert

You are NOT an expert…

You know nothing annoys me more than ‘internet’ pros and LA Fitness gurus. Let’s face it; half of you don’t know shit about fitness, training, or diet. Including me… This is why I have coaches… and take note… I don’t coach a soul. Not even whatever lucky girl I am talking with… well I would consider her lucky, she probably would have a different take on that.

There is a big difference between Training and Working Out. Training someone is an active process of understanding their weaknesses, injuries, motivations, and helping that individual toward the attainment of a goal. Ever notice a trainer or coach whose clients have accomplished nothing and still have terrible physiques? Yeah those people aren’t trainers… Well in some cases they may be great trainers with terrible clients, but that bypasses the point of my writing.

Working Out, now this is a whole new category. No expertise needed. Anyone can fill this gap. I am not kidding, you can take damn near any competent lifter and they could devise a workout that will make you feel all sorts of sore… no promises it will do you a bit of good, but you will get a good “workout.” These people will more than likely injure you too, hey not their fault that you have shoulder Impingement issues and you just performed burnout overhead presses until you felt a sharp pain…That being said know the difference between a Coach and someone who is just Working out with you.

When you really want to take your fitness goals to the next level you need a reliable coach. Ask yourself:
What has this coach accomplished?
What is his history and experience in the field?
What is the success of his clients and injury rate?
Have they taken the time to understand your personal aches and pangs? Do they understand rehabilitation principles and help you to actively prevent injury?

These are just some of the questions you should be asking, as opposed to… well he has nice abs and 13” inch biceps and oh…. Those skinny jeans, my God.
Happy lifting
