Can ethyl oleate melting through plastic receiver bottle?

I recently lost about 300ml of test pp that I was storing in a plastic receiver bottle (from disposable bottletop filters). The way I found it was a bit odd. Some of the test turned into a sticky gel which probably happen due to the heat. The weird part was the crack/opening on the bottle, it looked like some one sliced through it with a knife in the middle where the seal is joined. I didn't really use a lot of eo, is it possible that the eo melt through where the bottle was sealed. The opening definitely wasn't there when I stored it.

I ended up salvaging some of the oil, but is it possible some plastic got mixed into it? If that's the case I'm thinking I should probably toss it.

Yes, mixed with BA it forms a mild acid and thermo mixture. I have been trying to let people know this but seems everyone loves it so, it is what it is.
EO itself will eat BCP plastics and Rubber. If you salvaged any of it, trash it..sorry bro but that's what you have to do.

That's what I figured. Thanks I wasn't aware of BA making it more acidic. I kept it in the bottle because the filter blew, and I ran out of filters. Sucks to lose that much, but luckily it wasn't a more expensive compound like tren or mast.

Your filter blew because it was eating the plastic.
I see this stuff a lot with synthetic oils

That's probably what happened in addition to me using too much pressure. I usually use millipore pvdf for all my brews, but for this one I used a nalgene nylon since I had it. Are there any other filters that can handle eo and guaiacol well? I've been using the pvdf filters for my brews with eo and guaiacol, and it seems to be doing okay. Although I do worry about getting melted plastic into the brew.

You should be good with a nylon membrane, that holds up the best to solvents of any I've used. Without using EO or guaiacol I like PVDF. The whatman zapcap-CR is an excellent filter if you're using EO and guaiacol. Nylon membrane and the filter unit won't melt away, always use a glass media bottle.

Yeah the glass media bottle is the best. Also you have to do your research on the filters and find whats best. Everyone has their own preference but you have to use ones that are suitable for mild acids and such.
