TMI!

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight titleholder Anderson Silva will appear before Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) on Thursday (Aug. 13, 2015) (http://www.mmamania.com/2015/8/4/9094993/nsac-drug-test-hearings-ufc-183-anderson-silva-nick-diaz-set-for-aug-13-mma/in/7741766) to answer for a couple of failed drug tests that marred his comeback win over Nick Diaz.

Diaz was also expected to appear, but pulled out at the last minute.

Silva was popped for steroids in the wake of the UFC 183 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which took place all the way back in January. "The Spider" -- who also failed for oxazepam and temazepam (http://www.mmamania.com/2015/2/17/8052099/ufc-183-anderson-silva-sfailed-post-fight-drug-test-steroids-anti-anxiety-medication-mma/in/7741766) -- has been working with his attorneys over the past six months to mount a credible defense.

MMA Fighting (http://www.mmafighting.com/2015/8/11/9134295/anderson-silva-defense-sexual-performance-medication-tainted-drug-test) has the long and short of it:

Silva's lawyer Michael Alonso writes in the answer that Silva was "administering or using a supplement for the purpose of enhancing sexual performance and testing of the supplement revealed that the supplement was contaminated with an Exogenous Anabolic Agent: Drostanolone metabolite."

Alonso also wrote that another supplement Silva was taking could have contained androstane.
What a dick move.

At this point, it's difficult to make sense of anything that transpired since January. There was a time when Silva was expected to confess to using banned substances (http://www.mmamania.com/2015/2/28/8127841/report-anderson-silva-will-admit-ped-usage-was-for-healing-broken-leg/in/7741766) to assist in the recovery of his broken leg, as well as taking anti-anxiety meds (http://www.mmamania.com/2015/2/17/8052099/ufc-183-anderson-silva-sfailed-post-fight-drug-test-steroids-anti-anxiety-medication-mma/in/7741766) to help calm his nerves.

Then he flat-out denied (http://www.mmamania.com/2015/2/20/8075057/anderson-silva-issues-lengthy-statement-sad-steroid-scandal-denies-cheating-ufc-183-mma/in/7741766) using anything and asked for another UFC fight (http://www.mmamania.com/2015/3/19/8257657/anderson-silva-expected-to-make-ufc-return-following-nsac-rendezvous-mma/in/7741766).
