Am I training hard enough?

I'm training 5-6 days a wk, often twice a day, hitting each bodypart about every third day. Im doing about 25 sets per bodypart.

THink this is enough?

I don't get sore (thank you test & dbol). I like to think I train with good intensity and I make sure I dont rest more than 45-60sec between sets (except perhaps on leg day when it's either rest, pass-out, or puke, so I choose rest).

I basically conclude my workout after 1.5-2hours, or I get hungry, or, to be honest, I start to get bored and generally feel I've done enough for that day.

This is only my 2nd run so Im still trying to feel things out.

Any input from the resident studs?

THank you!

Also, I lift heavy enough that I taper down the reps from 10 somewhere around 4-6 depending on how strong I feel that day. I am, however, trying to be at least somewhat sensible in the rate at which I increase weight. Don't want to hear anything snap.

No you're not working hard enough. You're overtraining and for you to be able to do that many sets at that frequency and duration, your intensity must be severely limited. Six days a week and that many sets is absolutely ludicrous, whether on or off juice. And if you trained with max intensity, you wouldn't need more than a few sets per bodypart, once or twice a week. plus you would not be able to complete that many sets or go that long if you busted your ass and took all your sets to failure instead of wasting your time with multiple useless sets. Weightlifting is supposed to provide an anaerobic stimulus and you're program seems more aerobic.

Steroids aid in muscle recovery, but have virtually no effect on CNS recovery and everytime you lift, you're placing stress on your CNS. And worst of all, you're not giving your body any adequate time to recover before growth can take place. I doubt you'll be gaining much if anything with that ill advised workout regimen.

i think i would lose weight even on 1g wk of test if i worked out that much. thats crazy dude. if your gaining good, then keep it up i guess, but from my experience, even on juice thats way too much for all but a few genetic freaks.

wow

...if you are doing each set with great intensity, there should be no way in hell to do 25 sets/bp...no way at all...i agree with everyone here, but if you are gaining consistently enough than more power to you...;)

Bro that is way too many sets, and 1st of all, if you are trying to gain mass, then you need to rest at least 1 1/2 min between sets. I do 12 sets on each bodypart usually 15-4 reps. If you are not getting the job done after 12 sets, then you are doing something wrong. Rest is what gets you big!! Remember that!

if it works for YOU...then keep doing it.....but if is not...then change it up....mayb tone it down a bit....what r your goals and stats??

I think you are overtraining as well. hitting everybody part 2-3 times a week!!! Holy!! Resting 45-60 sec between sets for 4-6 reps? I can't see how you can rest only that short a time when lifting at you highest intensity for those reps. Try waiting a bit longer between the sets when going heavy/low reps. Good luck.

In my opinio you are doing a great job. You soud like your heart is really into it. keep it up and you'll be diesel in no time at all.

im on a pretty heavy f'in cycle now, and i was hittin the gym 5 times a wk cause i thought w/ all the help from "creatine" :D that id recover fast enough. needless to say im on wk 11 and my gains had been stagnant for a while, i dropped down to 4 working sets per muscle (all out) and ive gained about 7lbs in 2 wks, lifting only 3 days per wk, 1-2 bodyparts per session.

i was overtraining, going back to basics w/ lots of rest always works wonders for me, i shoulda known better.

but not everyone responds so well to very low volume and very infrequent workouts. i know i sure as hell do. i dont even train a muscle every 7 days, more like every 8 or 9 days.

i know that there are tons of people in the gym for years doing high volume and they all look the same year after year. i think the avergae person overtrains grossly.

I know I am a newbie and I have yet to start a cycle of anything yet but I do know that if you are doing that many set your are not going to get any mass IMO you need to up your weight alot the weight that you add today will help you grow I mean think about it simple weight training says light weight high reps and sets = tone defination and endurance High weight low reps and sets = size strenght and endurance and thats about as simple as it get I guess so if you are looking for size high weight is where its at but thats just my two cents

you are training way too much.

dont think of training success as how many hours logged in...its quality not quantity...

gotta think about progression ...that is ultimately the only thing that matters.

progression in the basic lifts, in good form. and can throw in some isolation AFTER the basics...

6 days is too much for most...however...

4 days is about right...

I think I misspoke with regards to rest between sets. I try to move things along during the course of a workout but I do rest a couple minutes between sets on the heaviest sets. I'm 5 weeks in and am up from 235lbs to 252lbs. Still 6'2", though. That hasn't changed. Strength is improving nicely. Some days I just keep adding weight and amaze myself.

I realize what you're all saying about overtraining and that rest is what makes you bigger, not the actual workout. Granted the pump during the workout makes you big but ultimately recovery is what's most important. It just seems like if I wait more than 3 days per bodypart, that bodypart starts to atrophy. So when it's ready, I train it.
