Ronda Rousey has largely stayed out of the public eye since her knockout loss vs. Holly Holm at UFC 193, which ended her undefeated record and of course left her without the UFC women's bantamweight title. Although she did have an in-depth longform feature for ESPN The Magazine, she's otherwise made no appearances on television or radio over the past month or so,
But on January 23rd, that will change.
Rousey is set to host Saturday Night Live from the famous Studio 8H in Manhattan's Rockefeller Center. NBC confirmed the news on Tuesday, making Rousey the first ever MMA fighter to host the long-running sketch comedy program. If you're interested in the whole show, the musical guest for that episode is Selena Gomez, who is also appearing on SNL for the first time.
While SNL has had athletes host the show numerous times over its 40+ season history, Rousey is only the 3rd combat sports fighter to grace, joining boxing legends Marvelous Marvin Hagler and George Foreman on the list.
So if you thought you'd never see the day a UFC fighter would be on your television live from New York City on a Saturday night, history will soon be made.
