What's the 411 on carbs. Starches and sugars, do we need them. Since there have been alot of reports that carbs can induce fat, and that people are getting fat on carb overdose. Do we still need carbs and is there a way to get the energy we need in out diets without carbs, say from health fats? What's everybody's take on this?

Carbs will never be out of style, they are important to everyone, after all there's only 3 major classifications of foods: proteins, fat, anc carbs. Sure, you can manipulate the ratio's depending on the goals, but they'll never go "out of style" b/c they're essential. Just my opinion.

Out of style? That is like asking if food is out of style. You need carbs to survive and perform daily tasks. I hope you were joking.

Yes we need them,we need complex carbs for slow burning energy and we need simple carbs after workouts to replenish glycogen storages through insulin.

so so important...

If you are planning on gaining lean muscle mass at all then you need alot of carbs... It's essential to feed your body w/energy while it recovers...

NO FLAME INTENDED BUT YOU HAVE ALOT TO LEARN ABOUT DIET BRO.YOU SHOULD LOOK AT THE GLYCIMIC INDEX.IT DETERMINES HOW MUCH OF AN INSULIN RELEASE YOUR BODY PRODUCES AFTER EATING A CERTAIN FOOD.

during your workout it keeps cortisol levels low and energy up and after an intense training session, carbs are just as important or more important than protein for packing on mass.I thought that was text book stuff??

I prefer a diet with a moderate level of low GI complex carbs, proteins and fats. The only use I have for sugars is post workout.

Unless you get your body into a state of ketosis carbs are your primary source of energy.......

Since you must have around 50grams of carbs per day minimum fro brain function I think that Carbs are here to stay unless you can figure out a way to build muscle froma coma?

coma??? where did you get that information????

youve never heard of ketosis?

you dont need a single carb to survive, your body will switch to burning fat as fuel very quickly, human bodies are amazing in their abilities to adapt.

Carbs are not essential to building muscle. I increased my LBM while in ketosis for 3 months. Yes it is difficult to function normally on such a diet, but you do not HAVE to have carbs, but in my opinion if you are trying to gain mass the fastest possible way without plateauing you are going to need carbs. So carbs are necessary for some and unecessary for others. It depends on your bodies reaction to a low carb diet and you goals and the determination you have and the effort you are willing to put forth.

Not counting all other things if you want to increase your LBM the fastest way possible then I would say carbs are ESSENTIAL
