Hey everyone..it's kangababie from the FB boards...just wanted to say HI to the oldies from FB and hi to the new girls I've yet to meet.
OK training question. I was reading in this months oxygen magazine, that a girl should always lift heavy. Like where did we get this magical number of lifting a certain weight to 20 reps and doing it 4 or 5 sets. That we should always lift to failure or whatever we can lift up to 10 reps..proper form..and about a 2 to 3 min rest inbetween. My concern is..and I KNOW people say it's not possible, wont I get bulky? I want to see serious results..especally in my toush and my legs..which are hardest for me to train. I don't want to get bulky..and last time I was eating right and training heavy..I couldn't fit into ANY of my clothes. I think i'd strange myself if that happened again.
Do you ladies have any imput?

kanga.who's having a really really REALLY bad day

I HOPE YOU DAY GETS BETTER, AND I BELIEVE THAT IF YOUR GOALS ARE MORE BASED ON FITNESS AND A MORE TONED LOOK, THEN YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF DOING HIGH REPS.

Welcome to MC!!
And I agree with winnie, if you want def, with no bulk high reps is what you want....but there is no magic # as far as pounds goes....everyone is going to be diffrent, and I think 12-15 reps at 3-4 sets would be sufficient, but again everyone is going to be diffrent, you just have to experiment a little and find what works for you. And you are going to have to change it around a bit every once in a while, or you will hit a plateau (and get bored). Good luck!

Welcome to MC!!

I have to agree with Dezir....you have to do whatever works best for you. It's all about trial and error. I'm into the fitness look, but I don't always go light. I usually mix it up--one week I might go heavy with a body part and the next wk I'll go with lighter weight and higher reps. Lately though I have been sticking to lifting heavy--I'm trying to build up my upper body. For my legs and glutes I have been doing plyometrics--and it is awesome--sure does lift the ass nice!!!!

Well I hope your having a better day!! :)

thanks for the replies everyone. my bad day got better. I ended up moving from where I was in orlando, back to my hometown palm beach. I literally moved in less than 24 hours. I started working at my old gym and I'm just trying to get my life back together. As for lifting, i've tried lifting light and lifting heavy. I've also been trying the pyromid plan....we'll see what happens. I'll keep you guys updated and thanks for the support:)

kisses
