How long does it take to kick in.. I think I remember seeing about 3 to 4 weeks.

The pills I have are
1500mgs glucosamine sulfate (potassium)
1200mgs chondroitin

If you can afford it,take it heavy for 6 weeks then when it kicks in,take the regular dose.It works very well, and I am getting good results with MSM also.Don't forget good ole' ibuprofen.

Another one to try is Yucca root. It is supposed to help with arthritic symptoms. One of the guys I train with got me started on it. I just started on Mon. but I will let you guys know how it goes.

I have taken Gluc. Chond. for a couple years now. It usually takes about two weeks to get any relief but after that it is like night and day. I take soem that I get at Wal-Mart they have 500mg Gluc. and 400mg Chond. per serving. I take a total of about 4-6 grams perday and it seems to do the trick.

Also tried MSM for a while but it didn't work nearly as well as The Gluc. Chondr.

Normally about three months. I haven't noticed much of it myself though. Have discontinued it's use.

There is a product called Pain Free.Works great.Has glucosamine/chondroiton,takes about a month to kick in after that smooth sailing.

Yucca works wonders. It is a natural pain killer and anti inflammitory. I also used it on my Rottweiler that ended up with Pano since she was growing too rapidly. I started giving it to her, and the joint pains and limping went away pronto.

I also really like the glucosamine cream that you can buy. You just rub it into the painful joints and it rids the pain quite fast. You have to apply it everyday to maintain the benefits of it though.

My2rotties, good to see you over here.

What did/do you use for a dosage with yucca? I have been goign by the indications on the bottle. With Gluc. I have to take like three times reccomended dosage to get the best results.

I didn't think I had noticed anything until I stopped. I'm back with it now. I think it took ~ 1 month to notice the effects.

I have a large container of powder that I purchased for my dog. It is called Solid Gold and can be found at many speciality pet stores. I generally take three grams of it. I buy empty capsules and put it in there. I take three in the morning and three in the evening. Sometimes I do this three times a day. I am starting on it today (since this post reminded me to do so. I have been on winny and EQ for two weeks, and should expect some joint pain, if I ever feel anything from this stuff to begin with.

It works very well, and sometimes you an feel the difference the first dosage. I really have no idea of how many mgs are in a capsule though, so I cannot really help you there. yucca is the good shit though. I hope this helps you some what. I am going to go and see if I can find some sort of dosage on the container. Animal products are measured in TBS and TSP since people don't consider it a science when it comes to animals. Good to see you are over here too.

Do you jsut take the animal formula? Is the purity as good as a product intended for human use?

I may have to check it out at the pet store. Musat be cheaper if it is for dogs huh?

I looked at the container and there is no info that is useful at all. It says to give 3g to an animal that weighs 100 pounds twice a day.

I am not certain of the quality, but it has not hurt me any at all. It has 75% yucca and 25% peppermint. I did buy human grade yucca and did not find it to be nearly as strong as this stuff.

I wish I could be of more help, but that is all the info I have for you. The stuff was pretty cheap compared to what human grade stuff would be.

Gluco and MSM great for the joints

I had the ACL replaced in my right knee 2 years ago and as long as I use glucosamine and MSM, my knees are okay. Once you establish a schedule and use the two daily, your joints(in my case, my knees) improved and there was no pain. When I stopped using the two, that is when I can feel the difference. I have had an x-ray on my knee and there is a bit of degenerative arthritis, but that is the risk you run when you have an injury to a joint I have resumed glucosamine and MSM and I can get through cardio and play softball as usual. In my opinion, the two suppliments are great. I use the liquid glucosamine so that it gets to the joints quicker.

Peace
