View Full Version : Am I hurt? or am I Injured????

Hey all, I'm pretty pissed...

So me and a good friend of mine have been both working up trying to get to a point so that we can do skull crushers with 135lbs on a regular bench press.

Well last Saturday I worked out with the barbell with 35's on each side, so 115, then on Monday during the middle of my Bicep workout I pulled my partner over to a bench press and put 135 on and said I just want to see how many skull crushers I can do, .... well.. I got 8 out ... I was pretty excited... My chest workout was thursday... at the end we did dips, very narrow too, cuz that's all my gym has so really worked more triceps than anything...

Ok so last night.. I go to the gym with my girlfriend, just to spot her (it was my off day) , I'm kinda psyched for Saturday (today) cuz im supposed to be doing 135 in my workout for the first time..

Well I'd been drinking before we went to the gym last night so I got ballsy and said let me just see how may I can do... well.. I put 135 on and it got really heavy after 3.. so I quit and was like to hell with it, I'll get it tomorrow....

So today comes... I go to the gym with my girlfriend, ... I warm up with just a straight 45 lb barbell ... then I throw a 45 on each side... and get ready to hit my 10 reps...

well the first one didn't feel right, the second one really really hurt... i put the barbell back on the rack and both of my triceps we're really hurting, a sharp pain in the upper back portion right where they meet my rear delts... I gave it like 3 minutes and tried to do 25s on each side (95lbs) the weight felt light, but my triceps were killing me... I only did like 3 reps and quit. I spotted my GF through the rest of her workout and didn't do anything else... I kept stretching my tricep, and it kept hurting...

Also we did drink alot last night, then this morning I got up and did cardio at about 10 am 40 minutes, then went outside for like 2 hours, then went back to the gym to do Triceps... so i think I was probably dehydrated too...

Anyway.. the tops of my triceps still hurt to stretch... I don't know what I did with them, or what I should do to help them out? I was planning on skipping the dips on my chest day this week, and hoping they will be ok, by next saturday... What do you guys think I did? what should I do now?

I would guess you were definately dehydrated, but like presser said, its tough to know...I would drink lots of water and make sure to stretch your tri's every hour.

Besides that, go by how they feel, and I would stay light for a week or two, just to make sure you don't re-injure them

Treat it like an injury (tendon tear/ muscle tear) use a good dose of NSA's (esp ibuprophen 600mg e/6hrs up to the max recommended dosage per day) with flexall and heat. If no improvement in two days, see the doc.
