I NEED AN ALTERNATIVE TO CHICKEN!

Exactly what the title says! As Jim Morrison sang, "... I eat more chicken any man ever seen!"

My wife and I are both so sick of eating chicken it ain't funny. She actually spit a bite of it out today at lunchtime and exclaimed, "I hate chicken!" I am currently choking down mine. I'm not sure I'll get it all down.

I need something relatively easy to cook; easily portable; at least tolerable cold..... Whatcha got??? WTF can I eat for good protein, low fat and enough calories to keep my hunger at bay for a couple hours??? And please don't say turkey. I hate roasted turkey. If it's deep fried in a pot of peanut oil after being injected with hot sauce I love turkey. But I won't eat it out of the oven, not even at Thanksgiving.

Pork loin. Brown it good on all sides add water here and there until browned then add onions and bellpeppers and cook on low or finish in oven.
U can cook several at a time. Use gravy over rice white rice or mashed potatoes.
U can. Slice it eat on bread for lunch and couple days later. U can cook in crook pot too.
Good lean protein make gravy cause it can be dry.
Chuck steak, Chuck roast, sirloin tip roast, steaks. Rump roast.
All these meats we cook.

Pork loin is a great suggestion. My wife will season it like pulled pork and cook it in the crock pot. Great idea.

My other "staple" is round steaks (from the eye round). I never really get sick of steak like I do chicken, but sometimes take a burger instead.

I like the rest of yoir suggeations, too.

Yes round steak too. Cook it same here. We brown on pretty high a little water now and then till browned good. Then add onions and bellpeppers lower and add water as needed. If it's done right makes good flavor gravy too.
Chuck steak much cheaper just as good just gotta cook it longer to get tender.

More chicken! Ha ha

maybe try some different ways to season it or cook it. Throw it in a croc pot for the day with some BBQ sauce. And it's really tender and juicy by dinner time.

lean ground beef, steak, I even do the frozen pre cooked salmon patties you can throw in the microwave.

Lmao I feel your pain I take chicken Brest and thigh grind it with onions peppers garlic chapotli peppers make patties and fry in the pan tastes way better do the same without pork loin eating sucks

I have been eating so much fish I think I might grow gills. The fish started because I to had lost that chicken feeling. For me it's cycles just cause it's easier to prepare when it's all the same thing. So I'm almost ready to go back to the chicken. Red meat is a constant for me. Not near as much as it used to be. I finally figured out it was causing more problems than its worth. But no way I'm giving up my once a week steak.

I gotta lay off some of the red meat. I love ground meat I can eat it browned with seasoning.
Or hamburger steaks or home made Patty's. I can live on steak. Lol!!!
With my blood cells high again last time I also had to cut alot of protein sources in my diet especially from red meat and certain greens containing iron.
I never had cholesterol issues.

Right now I am trying to cut some body fat but my problems have been with candy and sweets. Since Halloween I do good all day then after supper I start going for my kids snacks. With 14, 9, and 3-1/2 old kids at home we have too much junk.
If it was up to me I would have them eating good food but wife spoils them.

Grow gills... LMAO!

I love steak... I eat a round steak or a burger (no bun) almost every day. I also really like sirloin, NY strip and London Broil. My wife marinades the London Broil in olive oil, spicy brown mustard (Guldens or equivalent), garlic. Then I grill it. That is good shit, right there.

Today, I cut my chicken up into little bites, mixed it all in with my brown rice after sprinkling the chicken with hot sauce; I scrambled 2 eggs and tossed that in the mix also. That actually made it a little bit better than tolerable. Almost enjoyable. I didn't feel like I was forcing it down.

Today's meals look like this:

1-1/2 cups oatmeal and a dinosaur egg (1 egg and about 3/4 cups egg whites sunny side up - it comes out looking like a 12" diameter fried egg) for breakfast.

Apple, some grapes (red seedless) and an orange for a snack.

Chicken with rice and scrambled eggs as I described above for dinner, the rest of my grapes for dessert.

I'll have a round steak and sweet potato pretty soon;

Then a burger and red potato around 2;

Then right before I go home I'll have a cup of oatmeal and another dinosaur egg.

I'm on night shift, probably obviously.

U are eating good definitely getting protein in. I love burgers and lean steak meat. I eat alot of carbs right now.
I gotta follow along this example here.
I eat alot of white rice. What is hard is we gotta cook for kids, stuff they eat.
I am gonna start loading meat with only good carbs like u are doing.

I love white rice. We switch back and forth between white and brown. The brown is better for ya, and is nice for a change. We season it like this: salt; paprika; red hot pepper flakes; parsley. Make "sticky rice". Either brown or white. Comes out tan in color, a little bite from the hot pepper flakes... We both like it.

I am gluten intolerant, so I don't eat wheat products including bread. I substitute grits for oatmeal for a changeup at breakfast time.

I actually like "good food", thankfully. I'm just so sick of chicken it ain't funny! If Thudgen is growing gills, I think I'm sprouting feathers...

My wife is doing a pork tenderloin in the crock pot tomorrow. Looking forward to that!

I like fish, too, but have a limited repetoire. Usually salmon and steel head trout. Used to eat tilapia a lot, but got bored/sick of it. Got swordfish steaks a while back, they were DELICIOUS, but not always available. Expensive, too. Gonna have to look for some variety in the things that swim...

O, I forgot: I eat a salad just about every day, too. Lots of times fresh broccoli with dinner (when I'm on day shift and have dinner at dinner time with my wife).

Also, my wife likes to bake. I like pie. There is almost ALWAYS some sort of goodies in the freezer. She just made a strawberry, raspberry and blueberry pie (gluten free crust, of course). So I frequently have a slice of pie with ice cream as a late night snack (when on days or off). Sometimes it's gluten free brownies with peanut butter swirled in. Or cookies, or something. I try to indulge in the goodies sparingly. If I'm really paying attention I'll undulge once a week. Lately, though, I've been indulging pretty frequently! LOL!!

Yeah, man, love it there! I really like to go when Stringbean and the Stalkers are playing, or Billy Hector... both local blues acts.

Yeah, I live relatively close to there, roughly 30 miles west of there. When my wife and I first got married, we lived in Belmar in a winter rental.

Yeah my wife introduced me to the area cause I'm from up north.

We always would sit there and laugh cause if u looked up at the ceiling area you would see the dark cobwebs that even the spiders left behind ! Lol

Its a shame what happened to the original owner chef...did you ever meet her? She always walked around and would stop to chat cause we had our baby daughter...about 3 years ago now

Yes, we did meet her. Self taught, excellent chef!

What happened to her? I remember the restaurant was closed for a pretty long time several years ago. We haven't been there in a few years. What happened to her?

And where do you live? Close to there? We're in New Egypt. Right on the outskirts of the Pines...
