MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz confirmed with officials that Cal Ellenor (https://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/4746/cal-ellenor) has been forced out of his Bellator Dublin headlining bantamweight bout opposite Gallagher due to an injury. The withdrawal was first reported by ESPN (https://twitter.com/arielhelwani/status/1174087419500605440).
A new opponent is being sought out to keep Gallagher on the card.
Gallagher (9-1) rebounded from his first pro loss with back-to-back wins over Jeremiah Labiano (https://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/3472/jeremiah-labiano) and Steven Graham (https://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/2593/steven-graham). His bout with Ellenor was to headline part of a Sept. 27 joint event in Dublin, Ireland, along with Bellator 227 (https://www.mmafighting.com/fight-card/1065/bellator-227), which features lightweights Benson Henderson (https://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/327/ben-henderson) and Myles Jury (https://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/548/myles-jury) in the main event.
Ellenor (8-2) was seeking his second win in the Bellator cage after making a successful debut in Newcastle, England this past February, where he defeated Nathan Greyson (https://www.mmafighting.com/fighter/4747/nathan-greyson) by first-round submission.
