Anderson Silva returned to activities 10 weeks after undergoing knee surgery.
“The Spider” suffered a knee injury the last time he entered the octagon in May 2019, losing his middleweight fight to Jared Cannonier in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The former UFC champion only went under the knife a year later.
Silva’s longtime manager Jorge Guimaraes posted a short video on social media Monday, showing “The Spider” throwing kicks and punches at home, with the caption, “the GOAT is back.”
The Brazilian icon hasn’t had the greatest run over the past few years, winning only one of his last eight bouts under the UFC banner, a decision over Derek Brunson in Feb. 2017. The list of non-title defeats include decisions to Daniel Cormier, Israel Adesanya and Michael Bisping.
Shortly after the procedure in May, “The Spider” announced he planned on completing his current contract with the UFC.
“I’ll be 100 percent soon, and do my two fights in the UFC,” he said. “I wanted to thank every UFC fan. I finished my surgery and everything is fine, I’m going home. Thanks.”
