Nate Diaz appears to scoff at Conor McGregor sitting out rest of 2020

Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor | Esther Lin, MMA Fighting Conor McGregor likely will not fight again this year and rival Nate Diaz seems to be just fine with that.
In a since-deleted tweet, Diaz appeared to respond to a statement from UFC President Dana White that McGregor would not be fighting again in 2020 following his lone appearance at UFC 246 in January, where he defeated Donald Cerrone by 40-second TKO.
McGregor announced a retirement in June and prior to that, White had said he didn’t expect McGregor to compete in front of an empty venue anyway, which has been the case for the majority of sporting events during the COVID-19 pandemic. There is currently no timetable for when the UFC expects to once again have fans in attendance at events.
Shortly after White’s comments went public, Diaz wrote, “Lol sit ya ass down till 2021,” an apparent response to McGregor’s absence (h/t @realnadz03):
Diaz and McGregor have been embroiled in one of the most heated and highly publicized feuds of the past five years, with the two splitting a pair of fights in 2016. In their first meeting at UFC 196, which materialized after Diaz stepped in on short-notice for an injured Rafael dos Anjos, Diaz submitted McGregor. The two met in a rematch six months later at UFC 202 and McGregor won that encounter by majority decision. These headlining bouts resulted in two of the most successful pay-per-views in UFC history.
A third bout between Diaz and McGregor has been frequently discussed since they last fought in August 2016, but both have since moved on with Diaz returning from a three-year hiatus to fight Anthony Pettis and Jorge Masvidal in 2019, and McGregor developing a rivalry with UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Diaz himself has not competed since Nov. 2, 2019.
