I stole this from another board a long time ago...just looking for opinions...never used insulin before but this seems easy enough....

Insulin for Dummies..by Big dawg:

The Materials.
Here is what you will need to be sucessful in you venture with insulin.
1. A bottle of humulin R insulin. Get this kind for your first try, you can move up to humilog later once your more experienced.
2. insulin needles.. get the 29 gauge 1/2 inchers.. easy to use!
3. a bottle of twinlab ultrafuel , or an american bodybuilding Carbo force. you can buy these at gyms, gnc, and grocery stores!
4. a good protein shake.. for this purpose we want at least 50 grams of protein and only a little carbs in this shake.

What to do. follow this step by step and you will not go wrong.
1. work out
2. right after workout , in the gym drink the carbo force or ultra fuel.
3. go home.
4. take 10 IU's of humulin R into a fatty area on your stomach or leg. not an intermuscular inject!
5. drink your protein shake.

THAT IS IT! how hard was that?? not very hard when its broken down like that. after the shot, make sure to have a meal in 1 1/2 hours with low fat and a good amount of carbs and protein. this method is safe to do at night as well. sometimes i do it like this and just go to sleep, without even a meal after the protein and carb drink! you are getting 10 carbs per IU of insulin, so the ratio is good to keep you stable. I would recommend you try this after training and see what it does for you. yes, you can take it more often but then you run the risk of getting fat and lowering your insulin sensitivity. Do you HAVE to use the drinks i mentioned here? no, but they make it SUPER easy to do. it is best to take the carbs in on a headstart to the insulin so thats why i said to take the drink in the gym. if anyone has questions, feel free to ask . happy growing!

very nice. some questions:

what size are those twinlab bottles? hate to get the wrong size.

I live 2 min. from my gym. How long between twinlab and insulin?

if i'm 200 lbs is 60 g EAS complete whey (for example) good? is 80 too much?

what is the size of that meal 1.5 hours later? (do you set a timer :D j/k) 300 calories? 50%carbs 50%protein ? more? less ?

I don't like this "sometimes I go to sleep without the meal" business at all. I want to do it one way, the right way, every time.

can anyone vouch for this? superchicken, does this sound right?

well, you could do something real dumbass, like thinking that 10iu's was the same as 10ml. I mean it comes in small 10 ml bottles for $20. Gear costs about $10 so it stands to reason that 5iu, a starting dose, would be about half a bottle. right?

WRONG!!!!!!!! do that and you're DEAD.

A 10 ml bottle is 200, that's TWO HUNDRED, 5iu doses. (there’s normally 100 iu in a ml but, humulin is also available in 500 units/ml, yet another way to screw up. )

Or, you could do a couple of shots of jack, or some rum and diet coke, and pass out, forgetting to eat the protein and the 90 min meal. The R type peaks in 2 to 3 hours. If you don't have enough carbs you could get so hypoglycemic you'd wake up DEAD.

You gotta follow the recipe. You can’t get high and forget.

And don't think if 10 is good then 20 will be better.

I take my carbs before I do the shot. I use some powder stuff I get from the guy at the gym and in a 1/4 cup it gives like 40 carbs. I just mix it with the protein and be done with it. I will find out the name for the powder.

My meal afterwards is a steak and some rice.

Don't chance it with not taking carbs Immediately before or after.. don't try and time this shit.. Do it when your going to inject...... Peroid
I forgot what the exact ratio is "carbs to weight".. But 100g of carbs should be sufficent for most people.

If you don't fully know what your doing... DO NOT DO IT... Please..

It also doesn't tell you that if you can't control your diet.. Slin will make you fat!

Also I take 2 scoops of swartzlab protein before workout and afterwork out.

This is the main thing I concerned with.. You could quite possibly go into shock in this time frame..
