The former Ultimate Fighter winner not only returned to the win column but he did so in devastating fashion after flattening Wellington Turman with a right hand that put the Brazilian down and out in the opening round on the UFC Vegas 6 prelims.
The end came at just 4:14 into the opening round.
“It’s the mullet and it’s the training non-stop,” Sanchez joked after his knockout victory. “I’ve been working on all kinds of things since coming up to Tri-Star. I learned how to strike. It all came together. I’m throwing bombs. I’m throwing heat.”

Defined as a wrestler during most of his UFC career, Sanchez has been working tirelessly to improve his striking as he sought to become a complete mixed martial artist.
The work paid off in his latest performance as Sanchez was more confident while trading shots with Turman on the feet throughout the opening round. Time and time again, Sanchez found a home for a lead left hand followed by a powerful right behind it.
That was ultimately what led to the knockout after that same combination connected late in the first round except this time the right hand connected flush and Turman’s eyes immediately rolled back into his head as he fell to the canvas.
The stoppage came just a second later and Sanchez celebrated a win in his first appearance inside the octagon in 2020.
