</header>Here is what you need to know about dopamine. This will help you with focus, motivation, learning, and much more! The lack of dopamine in some cases can also lead to depression.
Optimizing dopamine levels will encourage new muscle growth and fat loss by boosting testosterone, the body’s natural rejuvenating hormone growth hormone, and improving motivation and learning ability. Here we will discover how to increase your levels of this extremely valuable neurotransmitter safely and effectively through food intake and/or supplements.
Nowadays you see many bodybuilding supplements companies, and some of the top ones, include in their formulas, ingredients like choline or Alpha GPC or tyrosine in fat loss formulas, boosting hormone production, and to increase focus and drive, by enhancing neurotransmitters’ balance.
First to define neurotransmitter: a chemical substance which is released at the end of a nerve fibre by the arrival of a nerve impulse and, by diffusing across the synapse or junction, effects the transfer of the impulse to another nerve fibre, a muscle fibre, or some other structure. Neurotransmitters are the way the nervous system communicates with the brain, glands, and muscles.
If you know how to control and harness the powers of your neurotransmitters and what you can do with them, then you have great knowledge that will give you great understanding and advantage on how to build muscle, lose fat, how your body and brain function, and why you tend to do certain things on a behavioral level. There are four main neutransmitters; Gaba, Dopamine, Acetylcholine, and Serotonin. Here I will only discuss dopamine’s effects on building muscles, fat loss, and how you can use neurotransmitter boosters to enhance your overall bodybuilding goals.
Testosterone Boost
Testosterone and Dopamine relationship is bidirectional, testosterone effects dopamine levels and dopamine effects testosterone levels, so increasing levels of dopamine will increase your testosterone levels. Dopamine enhances libido and arousal, and drugs that are aimed to enhance sex drive in women also increase dopamine levels. [1] Taking dopamine precursors therefore helps a lot in your post-cycle therapy phase in which you will benefit from enhancing both libido and testosterone, which are both low during that phase.
Fat Loss
Dopamine favors energy expenditure in the body and in the brain. The brain uses 20% of the energy of the body, so even a slight boost in the energy levels of the brain can mean a relatively good amount of calories burned, which will aid in fat loss and help ramp-up metabolism, so along with a calorie deficient diet you will be making progress fast.
Dopamine helps suppress appetite, in addition to that, people who have healthy dopamine balance are very driven and have that tunnel vision type of behavior, which will be of great use of holding you from falling into temptations during your diet, so you will be able to go to the supermarket, pick up whatever type of food that fits your diet and leave. Indeed, discipline is the mother of progress, so further nurturing such a trait will be a great asset in your quest to lose fat.

Growth Hormone
In a study dopamine was indeed found to inhibits hypothalamic somatostatin secretion, which then allows for a greater stimulatory effect of growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH).[2] Also many other studies support that dopamine increases the levels of growth hormone. Low-dose growth hormone treatment with diet restriction accelerates body fat loss, exerts anabolic effect and improves growth hormone secretory dysfunction in obese adults.[3]
Bodybuilders have been using growth hormone for decades for contest prep mainly to lose bodyfat and also to aid in building muscles. Surely you won’t get the same effects from a boost in growth hormone levels as you would from taking a high dose of the synthetic, but nonetheless it will be a very good asset.
Motor Learning
Motor learning is the process of acquiring a skill by which the learner, through practice and assimilation, refines and makes automatic the desired movement. It improves the smoothness and accuracy of performing complex tasks like playing the piano.
While lifting weights isn’t as complicated as playing the piano, the ability that you develop over time, making your muscles move synergistically and in a certain trajectory to lift heavier weights and target certain muscles is important in bodybuilding. Dopamine helps with the mind to muscle connection.
Athletes like boxers are claimed to be superior when it comes to neurotransmitters activity. Whether you want to improve mind to muscle connection, learn a musical instrument or you are painter, you can benefit from this in other aspects of your life than bodybuilding.
Motivation and Drive
They say that the road of a thousand mile begins with a step. Motivation is what makes you take that first step and it will keep you committed to finishing. It is the fire that starts every project whether in sports or business or art. Whatever you choose to do in life if you remain motivated you will give more and probably get better results as you give more.
Dopamine is deeply engaged in motivation and the brain’s reward system. Its release will instigate an action that brings-about a conditioned source of pleasure.
Natural Dopamine boosting supplements:
Tyrosine is an amino acid is a precursor to dopamine, tyrosine is converted inside the body through hydroxylase enzyme to levodopa, which will then be converted to dopamine through decarboxylase enzyme.
Levodopa(L-Dopa) is an immediate precursor to dopamine. L-Dopa is found in natural herbs such as the infamous Mucuna Pruriens also known as Velvet Beans which is found in some pre-workout formulas sometimes along with tyrosine or on its own to increase drive and motivation among other reasons, or sometimes in added to supplements that are aimed to increase testosterone levels and libido in men. Levodopa is more of an immediate precursor to dopamine, so it’s a better to supplement with herbs that contain levodopa like Mucuna Pruriens than to take the amino acid tyrosine, but both methods are great.
Foods That boost Dopamine Production:
Proteins contain the essential amino acid phenylalanine and the non-essential tyrosine, both of which will be converted inside the body to dopamine.
It is highly recommended to eat a good source of protein especially at breakfast because that is the time the body produces dopamine and acetylcholine, to be used later throughout the day. Try to eat a protein/fat meal without carbohydrates, this will give the protein a more “extended release” effect, and this is the reason behind the meat & nuts breakfast which will increase your productivity.
People sometimes take supplements that aid in building muscles, but seldom don’t take their nervous system’s health into perspective because its not visible like muscles. Make sure to keep a healthy dopamine balance in your body, as this way you will kill many birds with one stone.

I take L-Dopa (mucana, velvet bean, etc..)
But only off Cabar

When on hgh i take low dose cabar plus my adhd meds... I know prolactin comes after dopamine spikes and hgh, especially with hgh and a 19-nor.

I have read that any and everyone benifits from cabar 0.5mg 2x wk.
Helps with sex drive and depression as well.

Anyway great post brother!!
