Competitors--especially natural individuals--let me give you some solid advice:

The post-contest period is not "complete" solely when youve got food macros on paper in a good spot.

Way too many times have I seen individuals--especially females, work food numbers up relatively quickly, put a bit of body fat on and think all is kosher, immediately go into another deficit and just hit wall after wall, and get extremely discouraged by it.

Ladies and gents, what you need to know is that all physiological and psychology systems need to be in a homeostatic spot to ensure a responsive, lipolysis apt, muscle retaining body, and some of these systems take more time than metabolic rate to reset; hormonal, neurological, even mental systems take varying amounts of time to level out, depending on a host of intrinsic and extrinsic variables, and anecdotally it seems in my experience that once you allow these systems to start resetting they do NOT want to go back to where they were for some time (i.e. why intermittent diet breaks seem to be effective in the same individual during their dieting phase).

When you come out of a deficit, the goal SHOULD NOT be to race to raise metabolism as quickly as possible to enter another prep or deficit, your sites should be on becoming a fully functioning human being again.

Glad you bumped it, as I missed this the first time, and im not too sure about the advice in all honesty, as I have made some of my best gains post contest, and for sure quickest gains. Its my feeling that the body is indeed ready to soak it all up, so long as your diet not consisting of solely brownies and ice cream, lol.

Nick should have at least visited the “natural competitor” versus “Steroid competitor” at least once more, as this is the real factor and even a natty competitor will make some of their best gains post contest, or post deficit / dieting rather than waiting out an all systems reboot. But most certainly this isn’t the case for steroid users post contest.

Im sure he knows all this, but its hard to stand out in a crowd these days repeating the same stuff everyone knows, and his writing this might garner some Tong Strong “CLIENTS” or at the very least attention as it will stick out, due to the traditional train of thought being to feed the machine post contest. So I get it, and you can’t look like nick without having walked the walk, but between the *S.A.T. Words, and the advice, its my humble opinion that its advertising fluff. Sorry

I agree with Press 100% especially if you have a very good metabolism. That post contest window is great for putting on size. I also have made my best gains after a show. Not a lot of people want to continue eating 5-6 meals a day and train. They typically want to take a break from all of it which is fine but taken advantage of that window is huge in my eyes.
