Pretty cool study about the effects of nitrates and performance that was published in December. 12 resistance-trained men were given either 400mg nitrates in the form of beet root drink or a placebo in a double-blind,placebo controlled study. The study measured the participants bench press intensity at 60% of 1RM for 3 sets until failure, 2 min rest between sets. The results showed a significant difference in reps to failure and total weight lifted, but no difference in blood lactate or general indicators of fatigue. The difference was 20% more reps vs the placebo and this was only with 400mg of nitrate. Hype extreme has 1500mg of nitrate per serving. This is one of many studies that show exercise improvement when supplementing with nitrates.
