    Default Ashwagandha - Follow UP

    theguerillachemist

Sensoril and KSM-66 are the top brands for ashwagandha on the market. Ashwagandha is an adaptogen that can help with balancing out hormones such as thyroid, cortisol, estrogen and testosterone.

So which brand is “better?” Sensoril has the highest yield of withanolides, the active compounds in ashwagandha, standardized to 10% by weight. KSM-66 is standardized to 5% withanolides, however they use the same ratios that are naturally found in the root. In my experience and in literature, it’s always good to have supplements mimic nature as much as possible. Sometimes, it’s the ratios that are more important, as they can help facilitate binding and uptake of the herb. The data for Sensoril and KSM-66 are very similar, although anecdotally Sensoril is better for sleep vs KSM-66 better for stress. I personally use KSM-66 for the proper ratio principle they use. I do feel that it can make a difference.

There is data(for other compounds) that shows ingesting the whole plant/root is more potent than taking just the synthetic actives. Either way, I highly recommend ashwagandha for anyone who wants to reduce cortisol, as well as increase testosterone levels(women too) even if you’re not hypogonadic. In fact, I have some of my clients use ashwagandha while on cycles to help keep their natural test levels from plummeting. KSM-66 is found in #Contra by @myoblox at 600mg. Daily doses are 600mg 2x for hormone balance and performance.

Guys I have been on this now for a couple of week, taking 600 mg a day. May bump it up to 600 twice a day, but so far no complaints. Less stressed in a very stressful job, so that is a good thing.
