    How Did You Get Started?

Growing up I was a competitive gymnast and cheerleader, so my original intent was to become a fitness competitor. Having seen a Fitness America Competition on television I became very excited and convinced that I could do it. I turned to the internet to find out everything I could about fitness and was thrilled when I came across Bodybuilding.com. It has really been a powerful resource for me.
It was not until I had my suits ordered and a routine started that I found out about Figure competitions. Beverly International was hosting an NPC Bodybuilding and Figure Competition, "The Northern". After meeting with a trainer from Beverly International about my supplement and workout programs, he convinced me that I should give the upcoming Figure Competition a shot. I attended the Arnold Classic in Columbus, Ohio this year to see my first figure competition, can I just say WOW!

I analyzed everything about the pro's - from their incredible physiques, to their beautiful suits, to most importantly, how they posed. I decided that this WAS something I really wanted to do. At "The Northern" I tried to emulate exactly what I had seen from the pros and was ecstatic to not only win my height class, but the overall title at my first competition in a field of almost 40 high caliber athletes. Now I am hooked on Figure. I may switch to Fitness at some point, but I am really enjoying the experience of Figure competitions.
What Workout Plan Worked Best For You?

I like to keep my workouts spicy by continually changing. I workout six days a week with weights and bump cardio up to 8-10 times a week prior to competition. What really works best for me is to log my workouts so that I can track my progress.
What Nutrition Plan Has Worked Best For You?

What Supplements Have Given You The Greatest Gains?

I should start by saying, I cannot take as many supplements right now as I would like because I am nursing our 6-month-old son (he turned 5 months the day of my first competition). This made contest preparation a little more difficult; but, I am able to use protein powder and a good multivitamin. I have been using protein powders and protein bars to aid in gaining additional lean muscle mass - I have lots of recipes!
    Why do you love Bodybuilding?

Figure competitions have given me a concrete goal to strive towards. I have enjoyed working out in the past but now my workouts have meaning and purpose. It really invigorates me to see my body changing and progressing as a result of diet and exercise.

What Are Your Future Bodybuilding Plans?

I am currently preparing for the Cincinnati Bodybuilding and Figure as well as the Pinnacle Pittsburgh Bodybuilding, Fitness and Figure Championships. From there I will be competing in Chicago at the NPC Junior Nationals. Ultimately I want to become an IFBB Figure Pro.
What One Tip Would You Give Other Bodybuilders?

Go to see a professional Figure competition. Their style and grace will inspire you and show you what to do. Read all you can about it and never stop experimenting with your workouts.
    Who Are Your Favorite Bodybuilders?

Jenny Lynn, Monica Brant, Mari Kudla and Susie Curry
