yo i'm sick of people dissin us buildas. i overheard a office conversation yesterday about people think'in body buildas are stupid. i think people are just jealous because we're bigger and stonger than them. not to mention we could snap their squrawny little arms with our fingas

I agree Iron Brother, it is just jealousy because they do not have the desire, the knowledge, or the will to discipline themselves to acheive the level of perfection we strive for on a day to day basis!!!

Beleive me you have to be smart to juggle all that it requires to acheive that level of fitness and to actually perfect one's self physically!!!

I'm not into the steriotypes either. I stopped letting it get under my skin and let my job performance do the talking.

So now I'm bigger and stronger, better looking, and make more money than them. Life is good.

Calm down. Don't let them get to you.

And don't underestimate the 160 pound guy......
Strength isn't everything. Not by a long shot.....

i was thinking the same thing my friend. in our society it's not just that you know more than others, you have to talk smart and act it too. it sucks but that's life.

most ppl would break under the strain I go through in my workouts. and I offer any one who says they can do what I do the chance to work out with me. I have broken the hearts of many ppl in the gyms I have worked out at, after only one work out with me they can not take it. after that they never say anything about me or my goals

so the next time they say something to you ask them to join you on your next work out and break them off some real weight and see what they have to say most will not even show up the next day due to the pain !

yeah I see this too -- in both directions. I am an officer in a technology company. Chemical Engineer with an MBA. People talk to me on the phone or by email and they form an image of me -- as some kind of pencil neck or fat boy i suppose. Then they meet me and the reaction is usually funny.

Yeah, but its strange the dumber I get the bigger I get! I used to be a smart pencil-necked nerd, now I'm a big dumb ox LOL :D

i got it bad, my parents constantly discourage me to lift weights, and call me fat all the time as, despite the fact everyone else i know compliments me on how i look. They say all the fat is in my neck and shouders. They say if i get 'skinny' i will look like a smart handsome guy. Granted i'm nowhere near the level of a bodybuilder (i'm working on that), still though.

There are so many people into fitness these days who cross ties with bodybuilders of a all levels that it's somewhat surprising to hear anyone automatically connecting weight lifting with low cognition. So why pay any attention to it? But it doesn't help to suggest that we can change them by twisting their heads off or other body parts. We know we really can't do that and it just feeds the stereotype that the gym is a mecca for stupid violent brutes. They're not going to go into the gym with you. So beat them on their own grounds. Rise above them and if necessary, inform them that you're not on a crusade to save them from their ignorance.

Sounds like a weakling talking...lol j/k bro

Yeah...people think I'm stupid. It has nothing to do with being big though. lol. j/k.
Hey Bro I Don' tink u stupid....LMAO

I have to second sundevil. I have been a graphic designer for eight years, but I also have a degree in business information systems so I administrate Unix and Macintosh computers which also makes people think I'm a pencil-necked geek (well, I was at one time :) if you see my photos in the members photo gallery). I also get a pretty funny reaction when people meet me for the first time.

I get lots of stares too. Even yesterday at the mall with my wife, she told me she saw lots of people check me out, and she told me that she gets mad because female clerks will often flirt with me--some right in front of her. Though some people may say something about bodybuilders being stupid or dumb, they often will not treat them that way to their face--in fact quite the opposite.
