Melatonin for sleep problems?
I do shift work and sometimes have a hell of a time getting back from nights to days. Once I get switched over to being up all night, it takes forever to get a good night's sleep when I get back to days.
I've been reading a little on melatonin supplements for this, as well as melatonin plus L-theanine. Anyone have any experience with these supplements?

Well, so far it seems that melatonin helped me sleep night before last. Either that, or I was so exhausted I couldn't help but sleep. Either way, I got a decent night's sleep. I decided not to take any last night, and slept pretty well also. So what I've decided to do is use the melatonin during my day-night and night-day transitions and see what it does for me. Hopefully it will make the transitions easier. I don't want to take it every single night, as I've read about increased tolerance and also dependence, neither of which interest me.

My wife takes Melatonin every single night, she buys it from drugstore.com i believe and it comes in liquid form in dropper bottles just like the SARMs and anti-e we sell in our store, and she absolutely loves and swears by it!
I have taken it before and it knocked me out well, but i felt groggy next day , but i think i over did my dosages lol, my wife sleeps like a log on melatonin and wakes up vibrant, most mornings anyhow

So far I've had mixed results. Part of that may be an unfair test: I've played hockey twice this week, Monday and Thursday nights, both with 10:15 pm ice times. I'm so amped up after playing that sleep doesn't usually come until after 3 am. So I took melatonin, a 3 mg dose, on the way home from the rink, hoping it would kick in by the time I got in bed, but I didn't get to sleep until 3:30 both nights. On top of that, I brought a post workout drink with me both times, and found that it contains glutamine, which definitely has a stimulant effect on me.
Today I started my night shift run, so I went down for a nap about noon, after getting a truckload of mulch from the landscape yard and cutting the grass this morning. I took a double dose (6mg) of melatonin shortly before going to bed and slept like the dead for 3 and a half hours. When my alarm went off, I was sleeping so deeply that I couldn't mentally process the clock showing 3:30 (my normal wakeup time for day shift) and sunlight around the edges of the curtains...... So today it helped me for sure. I'll take a double dose again in the morning before bed and see how I sleep. Usually the first day's sleep isn't so good, so if I sleep well, this should show the melatonin helping me.

Wow I'm jealous 6 mgs works for you. I take 40 mgs every night with the sleepy time tea, and only get the 5 hrs I've mentioned, but last night. I was complaining about how wore out I was from my first week back at work, and how I basically just hurt all over from the heat and so on. So my sister-n-law gave me a yellow valum. Brothers and sisters the best night sleep I have had in years!!! I have never been a pill popper even after my surgery only took my pain pills when I absolutely had to. Was curious If their would be any adverse side affects between valum and bodybuilding Dr prescribed.
