No this is not an April Fools joke! On April 1,2017, at the 15th Annual Monster Bench in Cooperstown,NY, Rich Putnam accomplished a powerlifting milestone and lifelong dream with a 1000lb. Bench press! Rich has been lifting for 20 years and is the head of the Gorilla Pack Powerlifting team. It was a busy day for the lifter affectionately known as "Moose". He personally handed off and coached 22 team mates before he opened with 900 lbs. It was a smoke show! He called for 1000 on a second attempt but missed the groove slightly. With a packed house screaming for more... Moose called for a third. This time he was not to be denied. Rich Putnam did what he set out to do. Congratulations to Rich Putnam and Good luck at IPA Worlds in Nova Scotia!

yeah, I know I use to see these powerlifting videos, and scoff at how thick (kinder word) these guys are and how short of a distance they had to push the weights etc... and I still feel that way when I see a lot of powerlifting videos, HOWEVER ....A Thousand Pounds is FUCKING INCREDIBLE REGARDLESS OF ANY OF THE BULLSHIT I MENTIONED ABOVE ABOUT THE SHORT PUSHING DISTANCE BY THICK ROUND PEOPLE. So yeah that was pretty awesome and major congrats dude!
