Default Rich Piana Has Passed Away

More sad news for the bodybuilding world, we have lost Rich Piana. I had a bad feeling when no word was coming out of the 5% family.

His girl had posted the below on August17th on her Instagram. She states she is only permitted to give this update, what did that mean?

The only update I'm permitted to give at this time is that he is alive, he is ok, and the excellent medical professionals here as well as myself and his close loved ones are doing all we can to get him back to a full recovery.
Please continue to remain patient and respectful.
This is a very stressful time for Rich and everyone around him so please understand if we're quiet it's with good reason.

They say death comes in threes hopefully I don't have to read another article like this in the next few weeks or better yet in the next few years. I might not have agreed with all riches views nor did I watch his videos but he definitely made an impact in the bodybuilding community and brought people who would never watch bodybuilding or or go to the gym into the sport. Good job rich, and rip brother...

Yeah I could do without anymore deaths for a couple years. In the sport at least.

Is it true idk. Its not the first time I have read he was dead. Seems to be.

I agree like somebody said A week ago I'm just waiting for the media to have a field day with this shit. I mean brother I even seen one guy on the boards can't remember if it was this board or not but he said live by the juice diet by the juice, that's exactly what I mean actually they were talking about Dallas who we all know is that good man and did not die from juice. However sadly bro that's the world we live in today it's almost like people have no emotion..

Most people have no respect and are keyboard warriors. You think this punk would say shit to Rich's or Dallas's face? No he wouldn't. They are all 10 feet tall and bullet proof until someone calls them on their shit. We see this everywhere these days.

May have been me that said yes the media will take this and spin it, like with Dallas, they are going to say the steroids made his windpipe constrick leading to chocking or whatever. In Rich's case, have to wait for autopsy, but really I imagine AAS use may have contributed but not sole reason.

Over 35 yrs I have know at least a hundred users, and only 2 have died prematurely, the one only used for a very short time long time before he passed, and I'm 100% sure they had nothing to do with it. The other guy was a training partner of mine who suddenly dropped over at age 31 of massive heart attack, he had a heart issue and birth, despite Dr warnings of dont use roids, coke, alcohol or weed, he did all them, so he did everything wrong. Had he just used gear, I would bet he'd be here today .

I'm posting a tribute to Rich and Dallas in my gym via pics and I'm sure all the ignorant members (many of them) will all grind the steroid axe.

    From People.com:

Bodybuilder Rich Piana has died — just two weeks after being placed in a medically induced coma. He was 46.

The former Mr. California’s death was confirmed Friday morning in a Facebook post by his estranged wife Sara Piana.

“I’m in tears writing this that @1dayumay has just passed away,” Sara wrote. “I can barely believe this… I am so saddened & heartbroken that he didn’t make it.”

“I just want to say THANK YOU Rich for teaching me so much about life, whether it was the easy or the hard way,” she added. “We had our ups and downs but we sure had an awesome time in each other’s presence along with us fighting through some dark times together. You truly touched many people’s heart and helped so many!!! It inspired me in many ways to see the huge impact you had on people all over the world.”

She continued: “Rich, I hope you feel better now in heaven and that you’re up there healthy, smiling & telling everyone, ‘How it is, being REAL & doing your thing.’ Rest In Peace my dear husband.”

It sounds like Piana had a cardiovascular accident better know as a stroke. This is speculation on my part. I mean he was getting his hair cut by his girl and passed out. It could happen to anyone one of us. Thats why it is important to keep blood pressure at normal levels. I hope he is at peace.

My best friend died at 48. He drank himself to death though.

I was disappointed to learn this today but we can hardly be surprised. I appreciated his no BS approach to life and I'll miss his sense of humor. But he lived life in the fast lane and death is among the known consequences.

That being said, as Dave Palumbo notes, he wouldn't have enjoyed life any other way and I respect one's right to live on their own terms. I wish his friends and family all the best as they cope with his passing.

I agree with what you said. I will add the man created a legacy in our community that will not soon be forgotten. Like him or hate him.
I don't know I would do different if I was afforded the choice.

What part would AAS have with a traumatic brain injury? Dallas? Was it anaphylaxis? ie an allergic reaction to a food or chemical. I don't know details but unless these guys had a massive cardiac arrest or stroke then drug use, most notably AAS can be ruled out.

THIS makes sense. From what I had heard his tox screen was negative for recreational drugs? I am wondering if and what an autospy will show. Great guy but he needed to take less of the gear. When I see Dorian Yates talk now I know why I admired him so much. He did what he did and got out. His injuries were a blessing and made him do much soul searching. He lost his identity but realized all of things he had never had a chance to do. See some of his interviews on youtube with Joe Rogan and others. Highly recommended if you haven't watched. I related to it a lot.

I had the chance to spend a few days with Rich and its best "Great guy but he needed to take less of the gear" comments stop now seeing as there are newbies doing way more at a younger age right now.

I would recommend watching the new video from Chanel, Rich's current girlfriend. It will set a few things straight and is so sad. Sounds like Rich had a stroke or heart attack.

I was on twitter earlier and wanted to punch this Dr. Bitch in the face.
She didn't name Rich but she was writing about the permanent brain damage done by ass.

I've watched a number of his videos. Straight shooter and never sugar coated anything. I just saw Chanel's video. Poor girl. Whatever the cause it really does not matter. He is no longer in this world. We should all show some respect and not start with all the rumors.

Any women here care to opine on his GF's vid on his death? Are those crocodile tears or genuine? I like to think she is being true to Rich, and think she is legit, but does she have an ax to grind? Like monetary wise?
