    Default Jean/denim jackets?

This time of year, a jean jacket is often exactly the right thing for a motorcycle ride. For YEARS, I have worn Lee jean jackets. My current one is probably at least 10 years old and getting raggedy. My wife ordered me a new one, same size (Large) - I will not address the reduced weight gabric here - it doesn't fit. Not even close. The arms are WAY too small. And the midsection is cut like a freakin pup tent.

Mind you, I'm not a huge guy: 5-10; 200lbs; maybe 10% bf. Under 17" arms. Granted, I'm bigger than the average guy my height, but my old jacket fits, even with a sweatshirt (size XL) under it.

So, the jacket got shipped back. We decide, "Let's go to the Levis outlet store nearby and see what they have..." Well, good news: Levis are a little heavier at least, let's see if they fit: nothing doing. Large is quite small. XL comes a little closer, but is TIGHT on my arms. XXL is pretty much too big all over - except in the arms, where it's still snug. Couldn't even fit a flannel shirt under it, never mind a sweatshirt.

So, strike-out at Levis, too. I will give them credit for not cutting the jackets for fatso's.

Do you wear a denim jacket? Where can a guy who's in half decent shape get one that fits???

you know emw14, you probably can't. carhart makes their arms big enough for 2x, but then it's more for fat guys. i experienced this problem about three years ago when i went looking for a winter coat.
i finally found one that had big enough arms, it was a 3x. luckily it has a drawstring on the bottom i could cinch up closer to the body to help keep air from blowing up underneath. needless to say it is getting more difficult for a bodybuilder or "weight-lifter" to find clothes that fit well off the rack. i can't wear a short sleeve button up shirt, due to the arms being too small, and the long sleeves are starting to get more like that also. can't wear western style shirts. it is difficult at times with a 52+ chest, but a waist of 34-36. i bulk mostly, lol. arms 17-18 and i'm 5'7", weighing 205 -225.

Damn, 52" chest and only 5-7??? I bet you have trouble finding clothes that fit!

LL Bean makes great T-shirts; they have an "athletic" cut as well as "normal" (read: fat). The athletic fits everywhere except the arms, which are of course too tight. I have the same problem as you with button-up short sleeve shirts. I have 2 of them in XL and the sleeves are literally stretched tight around my arms. Not that you can stretch that type of cotton fabric, but you know what I mean. I can't decide if I think this is a style change? Or just a means to save money by reducing the amount of fabric used.

There are enough of us out there... You'd think some of these outfits would make shirts that fit us!

I remember when I was a kid, my mother used to make a lot of her own clothes. She'd buy patterns and fabric and make dresses, tops, etc. It's starting to look like I might have to learn how to do that! Lol!

Haven't been able to buy off the rack in year. If I have to dress up, I always have to get my shirts tailored and I have given up on getting jackets that fit. I wear zip up hoodies all the time.

Yeah, my wife was threatening a suit-shopping expedition.... The one I have is pretty close to 18 years old and DEFINITELY won't fit. Well, the pants will, definitely. But the jacket no way. I have a feeling I'm going to end up having to get a shirt tailored as well as the jacket. Luckily, the main event leading up to this threat is my stepson's wedding, which has been announced will ne casual! So that reduced the perceived urgency for a monkey-suit. Thank God...

If I don't have my dress shirts tailored, there is enough material from my chest down to make another shirt. Andy Haman reps for a company that is set up just for guys like us. Check him out on Instagram.

i don't have a suit anymore, mom tailored one for me to fit, but needless to say it ended up being to tight in too many places, especially with a little growth. i remember mom and my sisters making their own dresses from patterns, but materials cost too much these days. my wife hates buying material, because it cost more than just buying clothes off the rack.
yeah, clothes are difficult due to my size. it's like manufacturers think if you're big chested/armed you need to be 6 feet tall. trousers are a pain, just try to find a 28" inseam, 34" waist that fits the legs. the best i've done lately is dickies online original 874 trousers. i can get away with wearing 36" waist for legs, but wear 38 right now. i gained a bit of fat on my waist as a natty. primo fixed that right darn fast, lol. sweat pants are way too long and shirts get way too hot for me and i'm really not a sweats type of guy.

With jeans, I've found that the "relaxed fit" usually works for me. My legs aren't that big, but much bigger than the average "straight leg" fit. I'm a 32-33" waist and 32" inseam at 5-10. But shirts anymore are clise to impossible, like we've been saying. My arms are bigger than they used to be, and the sleeves get smaller all the time!

It's indeed hard to find clothing that's comfortable and high-quality, especially the perfect one for a place where it's pretty hot.
